Senior Staff Accountant (Remote Contract)
100% Remote | Contract/Temporary $40 - $48 per Hour
Are you an experienced accounting professional who thrives in a remote environment? We are seeking a Senior Staff Accountant to support a fast-paced professional services organization during a contract engagement. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working independently, managing multiple priorities, and contributing to key accounting and reporting functions.
Location: Fully Remote (Preference for candidates working PST or MST hours)
What You'll Do
  • Prepare and post journal entries in compliance with U.S. GAAP and company accounting policies
  • Perform daily bank and credit card reconciliations and resolve reconciling items
  • Support month-end and year-end close activities, including accruals, account reconciliations, and balance sheet analyses
  • Review and analyze financial data to support reporting and business decisions
  • Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and ad hoc analyses using Excel and reporting tools
  • Collaborate with finance and operational teams across multiple time zones
  • Assist with process improvements, system transitions, and special accounting projects
  • Support various accounting and finance initiatives as assigned
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • 3+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and month-end close processes
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, complex formulas, and large data analysis
  • Experience creating reports and analyzing financial data
  • Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and follow-through
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • CPA certification preferred
  • Experience with Power Query, SQL, Power BI, or other reporting tools
  • Previous success working in a remote accounting role
  • Experience with Aderant ERP highly preferred
  • Professional services, legal, or consulting industry experience is a plus
