Pretty Books is looking for a highly technical Senior Staff Accountant to join our growing remote team. This is a senior-level position for someone who can immediately take ownership of client relationships, solve difficult accounting issues, mentor other accountants, and continuously improve the way accounting is delivered.

This is not a traditional bookkeeping role. We specialize in solving the accounting challenges that many firms avoidfrom multi-year cleanup projects and complex reconciliations to system implementations, revenue analysis, and process improvements.

This Role is 60 / 40

Client Accounting & Advisory (60%)

You'll manage approximately 1215 client relationships while serving as their primary accounting advisor.

Responsibilities include:

Full-cycle accounting and month-end close

General ledger management

Journal entries

Financial statement preparation

Balance sheet reconciliations

Revenue recognition and revenue reconciliation

Sales tax research and reconciliation

Cash flow reporting

Budgeting and forecasting

Financial modeling

Cleanup of historical accounting records

Present financial information to business owners in a clear and practical manner

Build custom workpapers, reconciliation schedules, and reporting tools

Leadership & Quality Control (40%)

You'll also help strengthen our accounting practice by supporting the technical development of our team.

Responsibilities include:

Review and approve month-end close work prepared by staff accountants

Perform quality control reviews of financial statements

Mentor and train junior accountants

Develop internal accounting procedures and best practices
