What does a remote 3D modeler do?

As a remote 3D modeler, your duties are to work from home to design and build a prototype or 3D model for your clients. You may work using sculpting software or sculpt prototypes out of physical materials which you then present to clients. You can find this work in several industries, but the most common field is arts and entertainment. Although some 3D modelers work on spec, many get contracts from organizations or businesses to help animators, producers, and directors realize already existing designs.

Remote 3D Modelers often work closely with art directors, animators, and developers through digital communication tools such as Slack, Zoom, and project management platforms. Regular video meetings, screen-sharing sessions, and feedback cycles are essential to ensure models align with project requirements and client expectations. Sharing work-in-progress files via cloud storage and version control systems also helps maintain smooth collaboration despite differing time zones.
