A Remodeling Designer specializes in planning and designing renovations or changes to existing residential or commercial spaces. They work with clients to understand their needs, develop design concepts, create detailed plans, and coordinate with contractors to ensure the project is executed according to the vision. Remodeling Designers often help with selecting materials, layouts, and finishes to enhance functionality and aesthetics, while also considering building codes and budgets. Their goal is to transform spaces to better suit the client's preferences and improve usability.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remodeling designer?

  • Proficiency with residential design and documentation software (e.g., Chief Architect or comparable platforms).
  • Experience coordinating with Designers, structural/energy consultants, estimators, and construction teams to produce coherent, coordinated drawing sets.
  • Ability to identify architectural risks early and communicate clear, practical recommendations.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects at varying stages.
  • Collaborative communicator who works effectively across disciplines and stakeholders.
  • Degree in Architecture or a related field required.
  • Experience with Seattle‑area jurisdictions strongly preferred.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Frequent standing, walking, and sitting.
  • Ability to navigate uneven terrain, stairs, and active construction environments.
  • Frequent lifting and carrying up to 10 pounds.

  • Must be able to work at a computer or desk area for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to use a computer and accurately view drawings, details, and color information.
Benefits
  • Comprehensive Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance (PPO and HSA options)
  • Health Savings Account (HSA) with applicable plan
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
  • Generous PTO Accrual starting at 12 days per year that increases with tenure
  • 8 Paid Holidays
  • Employer match retirement plan (optional)
  • Open door communication – Easy access to Leadership Team
  • Additional Compensation – mileage reimbursement, company uniforms, and a cell phone allowance
