Job description

Join Us At Remark

Remark is reshaping the e-commerce landscape by harnessing the power of AI and personalized support to solve a critical problem: the low conversion rates plaguing online shopping. Our platform connects shoppers with trained product experts, using AI to enhance every interaction and turn browsing into buying. With Remark, we're not just selling products; we're providing a seamless, personalized shopping experience that boosts revenue and builds loyalty.

We're a mix of visionaries, tech enthusiasts, and, frankly, a few eccentrics who've sharpened our skills at giants like Amazon, Microsoft, and Salesforce. Now, we're channeling our collective expertise into building an environment that values curiosity, innovation, and a bit of fun along the way.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for a Full-Stack Engineer to help build and scale Remark's platform. You'll work across the stack, touching both the backend and frontend, to create a seamless experience for both brands and customers.

This is a high-ownership role—you'll have the flexibility to shape technical decisions, contribute across different areas, and drive key projects from start to finish. Whether you love backend architecture, frontend UX, or a mix of both, there's room to have an impact wherever you're strongest.

We build on a modern TypeScript-based stack, including NestJS, Prisma, Bull, LangChain, and GraphQL on the backend, with React and Next.js powering the frontend. That said, we value flexibility and ownership—if you have strong opinions on tools or frameworks, we want to hear them.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable and performant full-stack applications
  • Optimize performance, reliability, and security across the stack
  • Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and technical decision-making
  • Balance speed and quality, with a focus on tangible results
  • Ability to work independently, solve complex problems, and take ownership of projects from concept to implementation
  • Develop actionable roadmaps for new capabilities, and work with the engineering team to execute on that roadmap
  • Report directly to our Chief Technology Officer
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related technical field
  • Must be able to commit to at least 3 days/week in person in our Boston, MA office location
  • Strong proficiency in TypeScript and JavaScript
  • Experience with React and Next.js, or similar frontend frameworks
  • Experience with backend frameworks for Node.js (e.g., NestJS or similar)
  • Familiarity with databases and ORMs (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, Prisma, etc.)
  • Strong willingness to learn and work across both frontend and backend technologies
  • Nice-to-have: Experience at a fast-growing startup or similar environment
Bonus Points If
  • You have cool open-source contributions
  • You thrive when things move fast
  • You've seen a mountain goat
Benefits
  • Hybrid work flexibility with the opportunity to WFH 2 days/week
  • Full healthcare benefits (medical, dental, vision)
  • Flexible PTO (at least 15 days / year recommended)
  • At least 1 company retreat annually
  • $500 expense reimbursement for qualified fitness and outdoor recreation activities
Ready To Join?

Let's do this! The jobs listed are guidelines — not perfect outlines — of who we expect you to be. We'd love to hear from you even if you color outside the lines.

At Remark, we're building a workplace where everyone can belong. We're committed to diversity and inclusion and encourage applicants from all backgrounds to join our team. Remark is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
