Job description

Position Overview

Join our team as a Part‑Time Board Certified or Residency Trained Ophthalmologist at Animal Eye Guys – Bird Road, Miami, Florida. The opportunity offers predictable hours and a consistent home hospital assignment, giving you flexibility while staying clinically engaged.

Compensation for Part‑Time roles is prorated based on experience and hours/shifts worked. Salary ranges listed in this posting reflect full‑time roles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Comprehensive patient exams and medical work‑ups
  • Client communication and education
  • Maintaining accurate medical records
  • Pharmacy duties such as prescribing medications and following controlled substance protocols
  • Promoting teamwork and staff efficiency
  • Working with the Hospital Manager on weekly priorities and expectations
  • Evaluating and monitoring hospital protocols from intake to discharge
  • Monitoring cases and attending daily rounds when possible to uphold highest standards

Required Qualifications
  • Veterinarian degree (DVM or VMD) from an accredited college or university
  • 1‑year rotational internship in small animal medicine, surgery or ER
  • Completed a 3‑year AVMA‑approved residency program
  • Current State Veterinary License
  • DEA registration must be obtained and maintained
  • Strong diagnostic and clinical skills
  • Team‑oriented work style
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Commitment toward compassionate, high‑quality care
  • Effective communication with all members of the medical and hospital staff
  • Client communication skills, including rapport building and explanations to pet owners
  • Confidence and reassurance when handling stressed or ill pets
  • Capacity for physical tasks such as climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform moderately physically demanding work
