What is a Relocation Package Solidworks job?

A Relocation Package Solidworks job refers to a position that requires expertise in SolidWorks, a popular 3D CAD (computer-aided design) software, and offers a relocation package to help candidates move to the job location. Employers provide relocation packages to attract skilled SolidWorks professionals from different regions by assisting with moving expenses, temporary housing, and sometimes travel costs. These roles are common in industries like engineering, manufacturing, and product design, where specialized CAD skills are in high demand.

What is the difference between Relocation Package Solidworks vs Mechanical Drafter?

Comparison Search IntentUnderstanding benefits and relocation optionsJob responsibilities and qualifications

Relocation Package Solidworks professionals focus on CAD design using Solidworks software, often requiring certifications and working in design or engineering offices. Mechanical Drafters also use CAD tools but primarily create technical drawings for manufacturing. While both roles involve CAD skills, Solidworks specialists typically have more advanced certifications and work on product development, whereas Mechanical Drafters focus on detailed technical documentation.

How much do you usually get for a relocation package?

For a SolidWorks-related position, relocation packages typically range from $2,000 to $10,000, depending on the company's policies, the level of the role, and the distance of relocation. Some employers may offer additional support such as temporary housing or covering moving expenses, especially for specialized technical roles requiring specific skills or certifications.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a SolidWorks Design Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a SolidWorks Design Engineer, you need a solid background in mechanical engineering, proficiency in 3D modeling, and a relevant engineering degree or certification. Expertise in using SolidWorks CAD software and familiarity with additional tools like PDM systems or FEA simulation software are typically required. Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and effective communication skills help you excel in collaborative design environments. These skills ensure precise, innovative product designs and efficient project delivery in competitive engineering fields.

What are some typical challenges SolidWorks engineers may face when relocating for a new position, and how can they prepare for a smooth transition?

SolidWorks engineers relocating for a new position often encounter challenges such as adapting to a new team’s workflow, understanding company-specific design standards, and acclimating to different communication styles. To ensure a smooth transition, it’s helpful to proactively seek out onboarding resources, connect with team members early, and familiarize yourself with the company’s CAD libraries and project management tools. Many employers offering relocation packages also provide support with housing, local orientation, and mentorship, which can further ease the adjustment process.

Job description

JOB PURPOSE:
At H3X, we are building the most advanced electric motors in the world for sustainable aviation, marine, industrial, and defense applications. At 12 kW/kg continuous, the HPDM family of integrated motor drives is a step change in electric propulsion technology and removes one of the main barriers blocking widespread proliferation of electric and hybrid aircraft. Our motors range in size from 30 kW to 30 MW and are 3X lighter than competitors' systems.
About the Role:
H3X is looking to hire a Stator Manufacturing Engineer to support stator assemblies across multiple product lines. The production team is rapidly deploying new processes and improvements to meet the growing demand for the HPDM products. A high degree of self-motivation and responsibility is required since this role will be given significant freedom and will be directly responsible for the production of a multitude of parts.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible for stator assemblies across multiple product lines.
  • Work with design engineers to establish production requirements
  • Conceptualize new and novel approaches to solve manufacturing problems
  • Design manufacturing tools and fixtures in SolidWorks
  • Analyze recurring manufacturing discrepancies and implement solutions
  • Collaborate with design engineers on implementation of manufacturing feedback
  • Conduct PDRs and CDRs for sub-systems for which you are responsible
  • Execute first application and testing of new fixtures and process improvements
  • Interface with production operations team and assembly technicians
  • Create and implement production travelers
  • Commission and scale manufacturing processes to meet production rate requirements
  • Identify workplace hazards and implement safe processes
  • Maintain testing and production equipment when necessary
  • Source hardware for manufacturing systems as needed
  • Collaborate with other manufacturing and design engineers to identify, improve, and expand in-house manufacturing capabilities.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Identify workplace hazards and implement safe processes
  • Maintain testing and production equipment when necessary
  • Source hardware for manufacturing systems as needed
  • Collaborate with other manufacturing and design engineers to identify, improve, and expand in-house manufacturing capabilities.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's or Graduate Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar.
  • 4+ years of experience as a Manufacturing Engineer.
  • Hands-on experience assembling mechanical systems.
  • 5+ years of CAD software experience (SolidWorks preferred).
  • Prior work with high voltage insulation systems and motor manufacturing.
  • Thorough understanding of mechanical drawings.
  • Superior knowledge of GD&T and part inspection.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Organized and strong attention to detail.
  • Exceptional understanding of engineering fundamentals.
  • Vast knowledge of manufacturing processes (machining, assembly, composites, etc).
  • Action biased, results-driven mentality.
  • Willingness to learn quickly.
  • A high degree of emotional intelligence: ability to collaborate closely with coworkers in a respectful and empathetic manner.
