Senior Project Manager, SUE - Fort Worth, TX
Halff is seeking an experienced and results-driven Senior Project Manager - SUE/UC to lead and manage subsurface utility engineering and Utility Coordination projects from initiation through completion. This role is responsible for overseeing project scope, budget, schedule, and client relationships while ensuring compliance with industry standards and company quality protocols.
The ideal candidate will provide technical leadership, mentor staff, and act as a key liaison between clients, field crews, office staff and internal teams. What you will do:
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to scope.
  • Develop project work plans, schedules, and resource allocation strategies.
  • Oversee quality assurance and adherence to ASCE 38 standards (Quality Levels A-D).
  • Monitor project performance, resolving issues proactively.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, fostering strong and long-term relationships.
  • Prepare and deliver project proposals, presentations, and status updates.
  • Identify opportunities for additional services and support business development efforts.
  • Provide guidance on utility designation, locating, and vacuum excavation practices.
  • Review field data, mapping, and final deliverables for accuracy and completeness.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry best practices.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop project managers, technicians, office staff and field crews.
  • Coordinate with surveying, GIS, and engineering.
  • Support hiring, training, and performance management initiatives.
  • Develop and manage project budgets and forecasts.
  • Track costs, invoices, and profitability metrics.
  • Ensure accurate and timely billing.

What you will need:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Surveying, Geosciences, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 8+ years of industry experience.
  • 3+ years in project management or leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of ASCE 38 standards and SUE deliverables.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, schedules, and teams.
  • Professional Engineer (PE), Registered Professional Land Surveyor (RPLS), or similar certification.
  • Experience with DOT, municipal, or large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Familiarity with GIS, CAD platforms, and data management systems.
  • Strong leadership and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
  • High level of organization and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Combination of office and occasional field work.
  • Travel to project sites as required.
  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions when visiting field locations.
