Job description

About VOITH

VOITH is a global technology company and one of the world's leading providers of engineering solutions for the hydropower sector. The organization delivers large-scale infrastructure projects including new hydroelectric generating units, turbine-generator rehabilitations, electromechanical equipment replacements, and the installation and commissioning of hydropower equipment. Projects are often multi-year, multi-million-dollar programs that play a critical role in sustainable energy generation.

The Opportunity

As Project Manager, you will take full ownership of complex hydropower projects from contract handover through final completion. You will serve as the primary interface between VOITH, customers, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders while ensuring projects are delivered safely, profitably, on schedule, and to the highest quality standards.

This is a highly visible role requiring strong commercial acumen, leadership without authority, and the ability to manage multiple large-scale projects simultaneously. You will oversee the complete project lifecycle, including engineering, manufacturing, sourcing, logistics, installation, commissioning, risk management, and customer relationship management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead complex hydropower projects throughout the full project lifecycle, from project handover to final closeout.
  • Assume full accountability for project execution, profitability, schedule performance, quality, and customer satisfaction.
  • Manage project budgets, forecasting activities, and overall financial performance, presenting updates and projections to senior leadership.
  • Develop, maintain, and control project schedules using best-practice project management methodologies.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams across engineering, manufacturing, sourcing, transportation, installation, and commissioning.
  • Drive risk management, opportunity management, change management, and claims management activities throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships while confidently managing expectations and holding stakeholders accountable.
  • Review contracts and ensure projects are executed in accordance with contractual obligations and customer requirements.
  • Maintain ownership of all project documentation, reporting, and governance processes.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and support the standardization of project management processes across the organization.

What Success Looks Like

Success in this role will be measured by:

  • Delivering projects on budget and meeting profitability targets.
  • Achieving schedule commitments and key project milestones.
  • Maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Successfully managing project risks, claims, and scope changes.
  • Demonstrating strong leadership across multiple stakeholder groups.
  • Ensuring consistent and effective project execution.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Controls, or related field) or equivalent project management background combined with relevant industry experience.
  • Proven experience managing large, complex industrial projects with values ranging from approximately $10 million to $200M+ and durations of multiple years.
  • Demonstrated ownership of full project lifecycle delivery from contract award through commissioning and closeout.
  • Experience managing project budgets, forecasting, profitability, and financial reporting.
  • Strong customer-facing and stakeholder management experience.
  • Knowledge of project scheduling and project controls principles.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams in engineering, manufacturing, construction, or industrial environments.
  • Working knowledge of SAP, Primavera, or comparable ERP/project management systems.
  • Mechanical aptitude and the ability to understand technical documentation, manufacturing processes, drawings, and bills of materials.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PMP certification or willingness to obtain PMP certification.
  • Experience within hydropower, power generation, renewable energy, water infrastructure, EPC, or other heavy industrial sectors.
  • Experience working with large utility customers or government-funded projects.
  • International project experience.
  • Experience with turbine-generator systems and electromechanical equipment.

Leadership Profile

The successful candidate is a proactive and accountable project leader who thrives in a complex stakeholder environment. You can influence without direct authority, maintain a strong executive presence, and balance competing priorities while keeping your finger on the pulse of every aspect of the project. You are transparent with customers, comfortable having difficult conversations, and focused on achieving business results.

Location & Travel

  • Location: York, PA or Montreal, Canada
  • Hybrid work environment.
  • Relocation support available.
  • Travel expected approximately once per month, including occasional visits to manufacturing facilities and project sites.

Why Join VOITH?

This is an opportunity to lead some of the most significant renewable energy infrastructure projects in North America. You'll have ownership of high-value, technically complex projects while working alongside industry experts and contributing to the future of sustainable power generation.
