Relocation Graphic Design Internship information

What is a relocation graphic design internship?

A Relocation Graphic Design Internship is a temporary position for students or recent graduates in graphic design who are willing to move to a new city or location for the duration of the internship. These internships typically offer hands-on experience in graphic design within a company or agency, allowing interns to work on real projects, build their portfolios, and develop professional skills. Relocation may be required because the company is based in a specific location and expects the intern to work on-site. Such opportunities can provide valuable industry exposure, networking, and sometimes include support for moving expenses.

What types of projects can I expect to work on during a relocation graphic design internship, and how do these experiences support professional growth?

As a Relocation Graphic Design Intern, you will typically assist with visual materials that support clients or employees moving to new locations, such as welcome packets, digital guides, branding for orientation events, and infographics explaining relocation processes. You'll often collaborate with HR teams, relocation specialists, and marketing departments, gaining exposure to both design and corporate communications. This internship offers hands-on experience with real-world projects, helps you build a versatile portfolio, and improves your teamwork and client communication skills, all of which are valuable for advancing in the graphic design field.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a relocation graphic design intern, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Relocation Graphic Design Intern, you need a solid understanding of design principles, proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), and a portfolio showcasing your work, often supported by coursework in graphic design or a related field. Familiarity with project management tools like Trello or Asana and basic knowledge of web design platforms such as Canva or Figma are commonly expected. Strong communication, adaptability, and teamwork skills help interns integrate smoothly into new environments and collaborate effectively with diverse teams. These abilities ensure you can quickly contribute creative solutions, adapt to changing project needs, and deliver high-quality designs that meet client or organizational goals.

At GE Appliances, a Haier company, we come together to make "good things, for life." As the fastest-growing appliance company in the U.S., we're powered by creators, thinkers and makers who believe that anything is possible and that there's always a better way. We believe in the power of our people and in giving them the freedom to explore, discover and build good things, together.
The GE Appliances philosophy, backed by three simple commitments defines the way we work, invent, create, do business, and serve our communities: we come together, we always look for a better way, and we create possibilities.
Interested in joining us on our journey?
GE Appliances, a Haier company, is seeking a curious and innovative Applications Chemist to join our R&D team and help develop next-generation cleaning solutions and materials technologies for residential appliances.
This role will focus on evaluating and optimizing detergents, rinse aids, fabric care additives, and other consumable products that interact with our appliances. The position will also support the evaluation of coatings, finishes, and material technologies that contribute to product durability and appearance.
The ideal candidate has foundational knowledge in chemistry, surfactants, materials, or formulation science, inorganic and organic coating technologies, and is excited to apply scientific principles to real-world consumer products.
This role will combine chemistry, experimentation, and product development to improve the consumer experience through better cleaning performance, material durability, and innovative appliance coating technologies. You will have the opportunity to learn across multiple technical disciplines while working closely with engineering, materials, and product development teams to develop industry-leading coatings and cleaning solutions for our consumers.
Position

How You'll Create Possibilities
  • Design and conduct laboratory studies to evaluate cleaning chemistry, detergent ingredients, and wash additive performance.

  • Develop test methods and performance protocols to assess cleaning efficacy, residue control, material compatibility, and appliance reliability.

  • Collaborate with engineering teams to understand how detergents and additives interact with appliance systems and wash cycles.

  • Consult and evaluate coating technologies necessary for appliance products.

  • Support benchmarking activities to understand competitive products, technologies, and performance claims.

  • Partner with suppliers and external laboratories to evaluate new ingredients, formulations, and technologies.

  • Investigate product performance issues and support root cause analysis activities.

  • Contribute to sustainability initiatives through evaluation of environmentally responsible ingredients and technologies.

  • Support evaluation of appliance coatings, finishes, and appearance-related technologies.

  • Participate in cross-functional product development teams to deliver innovative consumer solutions for graphics and all organic and inorganic coatings.

  • Direct communications with all potential coasting and graphics suppliers to understand new technologies and coating advancements.

What You'll Bring to Our Team
  • PhD in Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, Colloid Science, or a related technical field.

  • Strong understanding of chemistry fundamentals, including surfactants, solution chemistry, polymers, colloids, materials, or related disciplines.

  • 3 or more years of demonstrated laboratory experience through academic research, industry experience, internships, or product development projects.

  • Experience designing experiments, analyzing data, and drawing technical conclusions.

  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional environment.

  • Passion for learning new technologies and solving complex technical problems.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with surfactants, detergents, cleaning products, personal care products, coatings, polymers, or specialty chemicals.

  • Experience using analytical techniques such as HPLC, GC-MS, spectroscopy, microscopy, titration, or related methods.

  • Knowledge of consumer product development, formulation science, or materials characterization.

  • Experience working with external suppliers, manufacturing partners, or research organizations.

  • Understanding of regulatory, sustainability, or product stewardship considerations
