These skills ensure smooth transitions for clients, minimize errors, and maintain a high level of client satisfaction in a dynamic environment.

Job description

Global Sourcing Associate (GSA) – (PG 6-8)

Company Overview

Sylvamo is a $4 Billion company, headquartered in Memphis, TN.  We are a global leader in the uncoated free sheet paper market that provides sustainable solutions to meet the needs of businesses and customers worldwide. Sylvamo employs approximately 6,500 employees worldwide with manufacturing operations in North America, Latin America, and Europe.

Position Overview

Sylvamo’s Global Sourcing Associate Program is an entry-level program with a Procurement Operations focus. It is designed to give associates exposure to Sylvamo’s procurement strategy and purchasing processes, from corporate level category sourcing to implementation and sustaining activities at the manufacturing locations. The skills and knowledge gained during the program help prepare individuals for placement into a manufacturing or corporate sourcing role at one of our North America locations (Ticonderoga, NY, Eastover, SC, or Memphis TN).

Our GSA’s start their careers working in a development role for one (18) month assignment at a paper mill or corporate office location.  During this time, they establish a baseline knowledge of pulp and paper manufacturing processes and the integrated supply chain in place to support the mill operations. The training period is spent carrying out a variety of purchasing and/or storeroom related assignments at the mill or corporate location, under the guidance of managers and team members.  The role provides job training opportunities in key procurement responsibilities, including purchase order creation and management, competitive bidding, negotiation, contract development, data analysis, materials management, and inventory optimization.

Main Responsibilities

  • Purchase materials parts, supplies and equipment following established purchasing policies and procedures while optimizing price, delivery and terms
  • Follow up with vendors regarding order status and expediting needs
  • Support stakeholders in the development of specifications and requirements
  • Conduct competitive bid processes, analyze quotations, select or recommend suppliers, and manage delivery schedules
  • Negotiate commercial terms to achieve optimal value and minimize risk while ensuring all purchase requirements are met
  • Support inventory optimization efforts through data analysis and stakeholder collaboration

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (Business Management, Finance, Accounting, Logistics, Transportation, Purchasing, Engineering, Operation Management, Material Management or Supply Chain)
  • Authorized to work in the United States with a 3.0 GPA or better
  • Geographic flexibility
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong computer skills required, with advanced capabilities in Microsoft Excel and data visualization programs preferred
  • Self-starter as demonstrated by prior work experience and/or involvement in campus activities, clubs, student government, etc.

Locations

The Global Sourcing Associate will be assigned to one location within the United States for the duration of the eighteen-month development program.  Associates will be given an opportunity to provide preferred locations; however final location placement will be based on availability.  Following program completion, Associates will have the opportunity to apply for a permanent role in any of the North America locations.

Compensation

Sylvamo offers an attractive compensation plan including comprehensive benefits that include medical and dental, 401 (k), and relocation assistance when applicable.
