Job description

We are seeking an experienced and visionary Vice President of Product Development to lead the strategy, innovation, and execution of our client's product portfolio in the Toy sector. This executive leader will oversee the full product development lifecycle, from concept through production, ensuring products are emotionally engaging, trend-forward, cost-effective, and aligned with brand objectives and market demand. The ideal candidate combines creative leadership with operational excellence, possesses deep experience in consumer/toy products, and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • This position is based in the Northeast, and relocation will be provided for the right candidate. It is not a remote position.
  • The salary range for this role is $200,000 - $225,000 based on experience.
Responsibilities:
  • Define and execute the product development strategy aligned with company goals and customer needs.
  • Lead, mentor, and scale high-performing product development and innovation teams.
  • Drive new product ideation, roadmap planning, prototyping, testing, and launch execution.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership, marketing, design, sales, operations, and supply chain teams to ensure successful product delivery.
  • Work with Creative team to create compelling product and new styles at the right time and right price.
  • Establish development timelines, budgets, KPIs, and quality standards.
  • Analyze market trends, customer insights, and competitive landscapes to identify growth opportunities.
  • Optimize product development processes to improve speed, efficiency, and innovation.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations, safety standards, and quality requirements.
  • Build strategic partnerships with vendors, manufacturers, and external development partners.
  • Present product strategies, performance metrics, and innovation initiatives to executive stakeholders.
  • Travel to Asia a few times a year
  • Experience negotiating price and setting the appropriate pricing structure to achieve margin targets.
  • Work with Sales team for appropriate wholesale channels of distribution and partnership.
  • Manage a team of 4-6.
  • Communicate with overseas team.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Product Design, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in product development or product management, Toys preferred.
