Job description

Position Summary

Reliable Poultry is seeking an experienced and dependable Class A CDL Driver to transport equipment, materials, and supplies to company job sites and store locations.

This position primarily consists of local and regional deliveries, with most routes within approximately a 150-mile radius. Occasional overnight travel may be required to support company locations up to approximately 500 miles away.

The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to safety, dependable attendance, good communication skills, and experience operating trucks, trailers, forklifts, and job-site equipment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Safely operate company trucks and flatbed trailers to transport equipment, materials, and supplies.
  • Load, secure, transport, and unload equipment and materials in accordance with company and DOT safety requirements.
  • Operate a forklift for loading and unloading materials.
  • Operate small skid steers and RS 634 SkyTrak lifts as needed.
  • Perform required pre-trip and post-trip inspections of trucks and trailers.
  • Identify and report vehicle, trailer, or equipment maintenance and safety concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Ensure loads are properly positioned and secured before transportation.
  • Pick up leftover materials and equipment from job sites and transport them to designated company locations.
  • Use GPS and other navigation tools to efficiently travel to job sites and store locations.
  • Maintain accurate driver logs, ELD records, inspection reports, and other required documentation.
  • Use company-provided tablets, software, and electronic systems as required.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and general condition of assigned trucks and equipment.
  • Follow all DOT regulations, company safety policies, and applicable federal and state transportation requirements.
  • Communicate professionally with supervisors, employees, customers, and job-site personnel.
  • Assist with loading, unloading, and handling materials when necessary.
  • Work additional hours, weekends, or after normal business hours when business needs require.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
  • Acceptable driving record and ability to meet company insurance requirements.
  • Previous commercial driving experience preferred.
  • Experience operating flatbed trailers preferred.
  • Ability to safely operate a forklift.
  • Ability to operate or learn to operate small skid steers and RS 634 SkyTrak lifts.
  • Knowledge of proper load securement procedures.
  • Familiarity with ELD systems, tablets, GPS, and other transportation-related technology.
  • Ability to understand and follow DOT regulations and company safety procedures.
  • Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and other employees.
  • Ability to travel overnight occasionally.
  • Ability to work after normal business hours when necessary.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to regularly lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to occasionally handle items weighing up to 100 pounds with appropriate assistance or equipment.
  • Ability to climb into and out of trucks, trailers, and equipment.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, climb, and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to sit and drive for extended periods.

Schedule & Compensation

  • Salary is based on a standard 40-hour workweek.
  • Overtime opportunities may be available depending on business needs.
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required.
  • Employees may be eligible for an annual bonus based on company profitability and individual/company performance.

All drivers are expected to operate company vehicles and equipment safely and professionally at all times. Drivers must comply with all applicable DOT regulations, company policies, licensing requirements, hours-of-service requirements, and drug and alcohol testing requirements applicable to CDL drivers.
