Role Description The Heating Air Conditioning Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in Indianapolis, IN. This role involves installing, repairing, and maintaining residential and commercial HVAC systems, including furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, and related equipment. Day-to-day tasks include diagnosing system issues, performing preventive maintenance, checking electrical components, and ensuring systems operate safely and efficiently. The technician will interact with customers, explain findings and repair options, complete work orders and documentation, and follow company and regulatory safety standards. The role may also include basic plumbing-related tasks connected to HVAC systems, coordinating with team members, and responding to service calls as scheduled.

Qualifications

  • Strong troubleshooting skills for HVAC systems, with the ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical and performance issues.
  • Working knowledge of electricity and electrical components related to heating and air conditioning equipment.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance on HVAC systems, including inspections, cleaning, and adjustments to improve efficiency and reliability.
  • Basic plumbing skills as they relate to HVAC installations and repairs, such as condensate drains and related piping.
  • Valid EPA certification (or ability to obtain) for handling refrigerants in compliance with regulations.
  • Relevant HVAC training or certification from a technical school or apprenticeship program; trade license is a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and work orders, with strong attention to detail and safety practices.
  • Good communication and customer service skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and willingness to work in varying indoor and outdoor conditions.
