Job description

Your Job
INVISTA is seeking an Environmental Engineer to join the Environmental Team in Victoria, TX. This dynamic role will expand the Air Team's capabilities through program ownership (e.g., Title V and NSR permitting support, regulatory reporting, and serving as Compliance System Owner for state and federal rules) while helping transform existing programs and systems. This position reports to the Air Team Leader.
The Environmental Engineer will partner with the Air Team Lead and cross-functional environmental staff to optimize program areas, implement improvements, and deliver training to impacted personnel. Responsibilities include participating in - and potentially leading - implementation and maintenance of the INVISTA Regulatory Management System (RMS) for assigned areas; preparing routine regulatory reports and reasonable inquiries; maintaining permits and agency approvals; developing site procedures, compliance tools, and operator training; performing project reviews and technical air permitting/emissions calculations; and serving as environmental lead for turnaround planning and internal audits. The role will also support change management, compliance assurance, and other environmental tasks as needed.
What You Will Do
  • Stakeholder Engagement & On call Support: Act as the primary environmental liaison with Operations (for assigned processes) and site personnel to foster a culture of compliance and teamwork. Serve as the technical contact for assigned programs and be available during non traditional hours to support site operations and event responses.
  • Federal & State Air Compliance Management: Manage and maintain compliance with federal (EPA) and state (TCEQ) air requirements (e.g., Title V, HON, MON, BWON), including permit adherence, regulatory reporting, and permit/approval upkeep.
  • Program Transformation & Continuous Improvement: Lead or support transformation initiatives to simplify and improve environmental programs-right sizing tools, eliminating redundant data management, and integrating environmental controls into site processes to improve performance and efficiency.
  • Regulatory Management System (RMS) Implementation & Maintenance: Participate in and/or lead implementation and ongoing maintenance of the INVISTA Regulatory Management System for assigned areas to ensure accurate, auditable compliance records.
  • Tools, Templates & Data Controls: Develop and maintain standardized tools, templates, and data controls to ensure consistency in program compliance management and reliable environmental information and reporting.
  • Training & Change Management: Develop and deliver operator and stakeholder training, and implement change management to ensure program requirements are understood, sustainable, and embedded into day to day operations.
  • Compliance Verification & Inspections: Conduct periodic self assessments, participate in internal/external audits, and perform field inspections to verify compliance and system effectiveness; drive corrective actions as needed.
  • Technical Reviews & Project Support: Perform technical calculations (e.g., air permitting and emissions), review projects for environmental requirements, and serve as environmental lead for turnaround planning and other site projects.
  • Contractor & Consultant Oversight: Manage and coordinate work performed by contractors and consultants supporting assigned program areas to ensure deliverables meet site and regulatory expectations.

Physical Qualifications
  • Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Must be able to work on job sites in the field
  • Must be able to climb stairs (up to 100ft.) in operating unit
  • Ability to work in extreme temperatures and weather conditions for various periods of time
  • Must be willing to work days in excess of 8 hours periodically and take calls during non-working hours

  • Familiarity with Power BI and PI (or other data historian processes)
  • Multi-media experience in environmental air, water, waste, and UIC programs
