Position Summary:
Amkor Technology Arizona is seeking an experienced Facilities Instrumentation and Controls Technician, responsible for maintaining, calibrating, troubleshooting, and optimizing instrumentation, automation, and control systems that support facility utilities and operations. This role ensures reliable performance of sensors, transmitters, PLCs, HMIs, control loops, and related systems used to monitor and control production and facility processes. The technician supports construction, commissioning, and operations phases to ensure all controls systems meet safety codes, performance standards, and operational needs.
Job Responsibilities:
โ€ข Perform routine calibration, testing, and verification of instrumentation including pressure, temperature, humidity, flow, and level sensors.
โ€ข Maintain and repair transmitters, actuators, control valves, positioners, and analytical instruments.
โ€ข Ensure accuracy and documentation of all instrument calibration activities following established standards.
โ€ข Diagnose and repair issues in PLC-based systems, HMIs, VFDs, and distributed control architectures.
โ€ข Troubleshoot failures in control loops, interlocks, communication networks, and automation hardware.
โ€ข Assist in implementing logic updates, parameter adjustments, and functional testing of control sequences.
โ€ข Support communication protocols such as Modbus, Ethernet/IP, Profibus, or equivalent industrial networks.
โ€ข Maintain and support SCADA platforms to ensure accurate real-time system data.
โ€ข Respond to alarms and control system events, ensuring timely corrective action.
โ€ข Assist with startup, commissioning, and functional testing of new instrumentation and control systems.
โ€ข Verify device scaling, signal integrity, loop direction, control logic, and alarm configuration.
โ€ข Coordinate with engineering, contractors, and vendors during commissioning and system upgrades.
โ€ข Maintain accurate device records, calibration logs, wiring diagrams, loop sheets, and control configurations using CMMS tools..
โ€ข Support facility operations by ensuring control systems operate consistently and reliably.
โ€ข Provide technical support during shutdowns, system transitions, process troubleshooting, and equipment upgrades.
Required Qualifications
โ€ข 3+ years of experience in instrumentation, controls, or automation maintenance in industrial or manufacturing environments.
โ€ข Strong knowledge of SCADA platforms, sensors, transmitters, control valves, PLCs, HMIs, and industrial communication networks.
โ€ข Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, control wiring diagrams, loop sheets, and automation documentation.
โ€ข Experience with calibration equipment and maintenance of I&C devices.
Preferred Qualifications
โ€ข Certification in instrumentation or controls (ISA, industrial automation certificate, etc.).
โ€ข Experience with BMS, SCADA, or EPMS systems.
โ€ข Knowledge of semiconductor facilities, advanced manufacturing, or similar high-reliability environments.
โ€ข Experience with controls programming support or advanced troubleshooting.
Physical Requirements
โ€ข Ability to work in various weather conditions and awkward positions.
โ€ข Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in mechanical spaces, rooftops, and equipment rooms.
โ€ข Exposure to sharp, hot, and cold equipment.
โ€ข Must be medically qualified to wear a respirator.
โ€ข Ability to climb ladders, work at elevation, and in confined spaces with PPE.
Location:
Peoria, AZ. This position is onsite. During the construction phase and initial onboarding period, employees will work a standard Monday-Friday schedule of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. As the facility transitions into manufacturing operations, the role will move to a 12-hour compressed workweek schedule. Shift assignments may include day or night shifts, weekends, and holidays, and will be determined based on business and operational needs.
