Job Description

Overview: 

The Nursery Maintenance Lead oversees maintenance operations of the nursery. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical and electrical background, good leadership skills and a proactive approach to ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our equipment and facilities.

Here's what you'll do: 

  • Preventive Maintenance: Implement a comprehensive preventive maintenance program for all equipment. Regularly inspect equipment to identify and address potential issues before they lead to significant downtime.
  • Equipment Repairs: Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues with machinery and equipment to minimize downtime and ensure operational efficiency. This includes troubleshooting complex mechanical failures and performing emergency repairs as needed.
  • Team Leadership: Lead the maintenance team, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure high performance and adherence to safety standards. Escalates any performance or discipline concerns to the manager.
  • Inventory Management: Maintain an inventory of spare parts and supplies, ensuring availability for scheduled maintenance and emergency repairs. Implement effective inventory control systems to minimize waste and reduce costs.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies, conducting regular safety inspections and addressing any potential hazards. Promote a culture of safety within the maintenance team and across the facility.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, equipment manuals, and maintenance logs. Utilize maintenance management software to track and report on maintenance performance metrics.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings in maintenance operations, implementing best practices and new technologies where applicable. Lead initiatives aimed at increasing equipment reliability and reducing maintenance costs.

Pay range: $23.00 - $25.50 per hour. Final Compensation will be dependent upon skills & experience.

Qualifications

Here's what you'll bring to the table:

  • Ability to work alone without close supervision.
  • Be able to lift 50 lbs on a continuous basis and 100 lbs on occasion.
  • Be able to do continuous bending, stooping, and walking on a daily basis.
  • If operating a company vehicle must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Have adequate leadership and communication skills to direct, schedule and coordinate personnel and services.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English and Spanish required
  • Proficiency in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
  • Experience in leading a maintenance team desired. Ability to motivate and support team members.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) preferred. Experience with maintenance management software is preferred.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures manuals.

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • 18 years of age or older
