Job description

Koch Fertilizer is seeking a Rotating Equipment Reliability Engineer to join our Dodge City, KS team. In this role, you will play a critical part in advancing equipment reliability and operational excellence across the site. You will leverage your technical expertise and apply Principle Based Management (PBM®) to identify opportunities, troubleshoot issues, and drive long-term value through improved asset performance.

Our Team

You will be part of a collaborative maintenance and reliability team working closely with operations and fleetwide subject matter experts to enhance equipment performance, reduce failures, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

What You Will Do
  • Proactively advance and model Koch’s Principle Based Management (PBM®) culture through daily actions and decision-making
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve technical issues related to rotating equipment
  • Lead and execute reliability projects from problem identification through design, implementation, and commissioning
  • Provide reliability expertise during the design and implementation of new and upgraded assets
  • Monitor rotating equipment performance to predict and prevent failures, including leveraging emerging wireless technologies
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve overall plant reliability and equipment performance
  • Lead root cause analysis (RCA) investigations and ensure effective implementation of corrective actions and lessons learned
  • Collaborate with maintenance teams and fleetwide machinery experts to eliminate recurring failures
  • Develop and oversee scope of work for maintenance outages and turnarounds, ensuring quality execution (QA/QC)
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering field OR 5+ years of maintenance experience in an industrial environment
  • Experience troubleshooting and maintaining rotating equipment
  • Willing and able to meet all physical requirements:
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Bending, kneeling, lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to climb straight ladders. Some work may require heights in excess of 100 feet.
  • Wearing industrial chemical plant uniforms and PPE as required.
What Will Put You Ahead
  • Reliability engineering experience in a nitrogen fertilizer production facility
  • Machinery Lubrication Analyst (MLA) Level 2 Certification
  • ISO Category II Vibration Analyst Certification
  • Experience working with Mechanical Integrity Programs
  • Experience in industrial chemical manufacturing
  • Experience with Maximo or similar CMMS systems
