Summary:

The Reliability Engineer provides front-line reliability and maintenance engineering support to ensure safe, complaint, and efficient operation of equipment and processes. This role drives asset performance through preventive and predictive maintenance strategies, root cause analysis, and data-driven decision-making while supporting Mechanical Integrity and Risk-Based Inspection (RBI) programs in alignment with RMP/PSM requirements and industry standards. The position partners closely with operations, maintenance, and EHS teams to improve reliability, maintain accurate equipment documentation, and ensure work is executed in accordance with regulatory and internal requirements. Additional responsibilities include optimizing spare parts strategies, supporting CMMS (Maximo) reporting and analysis, and contributing to both small- and large-scale projects to enhance long-term equipment reliability and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish, implement, and continuously improve preventive and predictive maintenance programs to optimize equipment reliability and reduce unplanned downtime.
  • Drive equipment reliability through root cause analysis, performance monitoring, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Lead and support Mechanical Integrity and Risk-Based Inspection (RBI) programs to ensure compliance with regulatory and company standards.
  • Partner with maintenance and operations to improve job planning, work execution, and field readiness, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and accurately.
  • Analyze and optimize spare parts inventory and MRO strategies to ensure critical part availability while managing cost and efficiency.
  • Utilize CMMS (Maximo) to track, analyze, and report on maintenance performance metrics, enabling data-driven decision-making.
  • Maintain and improve engineering standards, technical documentation, and equipment records to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance.
  • Provide reliability engineering support for capital projects, including equipment selection, design input, and startup/commissioning support.
  • Collaborate with EHS and operations teams to ensure all reliability activities align with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or related engineering field required.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in reliability, maintenance, or process engineering within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working in regulated environments (e.g., PSM/RMP) preferred.

Technical Knowledge & Skills:

  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems including pumps, piping, valves, and rotating equipment.
  • Experience with preventive and predictive maintenance strategies, including condition monitoring techniques (e.g., vibration analysis, oil analysis, thermography).
  • Knowledge of root cause analysis methodologies and continuous improvement practices.
  • Familiarity with Mechanical Integrity programs and applicable industry standards (e.g., API, ASME).
  • Understanding of Management of Change (MOC) processes and reliability-centered maintenance principles.
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, process flow diagrams, and engineering drawings.

Systems & Tools:

  • Proficiency with CMMS systems (IBM Maximo or similar).
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel for data analysis and reporting.
  • Familiarity with EHS systems (e.g., Intelex) preferred.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical information to diverse audiences
  • High level of adaptability and problem-solving skills, with the ability to operate effectively in dynamic and evolving environments
  • Ability to collaborate across functions and organizational levels to drive results
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and support decision-making
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement
