What's in it for you:
We are looking for a collaborative and creative Component Engineer that thrives in a team environment, creating solutions for challenging customer-driven business needs.This role will work as a member of the component engineering team responsible for testing and qualification of new components for Trane Residential HVAC products. Components may include fixed and variable speed compressors, fractional horsepower motors, all types of refrigeration valves (EEV, TXV, SOV, and SV), heat exchangers, electromechanical devices, sensing and switching technologies, and blowers and axial fans.Interaction with product design teams, advanced engineering, operations, marketing, field operations, suppliers and customers will be needed to successfully achieve this team's goals.

What you will do:

  • Lead the development of component specifications, validation test plans, and DFMEAs for all assigned components, and ensure all are kept current within Confluence.

  • Lead complex technical component qualification programs in support of New Product Development (NPD) and Value Add/Value Engineering (VA/VE) using validation test plans, DFMEAs and the Independent Design Review process.

  • Develop up to date technical expertise for assigned components.

  • Ensure the assigned components' Multi-Generation Component Plans and Reliability roadmaps are aligned with the Product Growth Teams' Multi-Generation Product Plans.

  • Direct engineering resources at remote Engineering and Technology Centers (ETC) on specific component qualification projects in support of business requirements.

  • Lead quality and field improvement projects as assigned. Projects may involve unit system, subsystem, or component design application and testing.

  • Interface with internal and external customers and suppliers to ensure coordination and alignment of assigned components for on-time qualification prior to mass production.

  • Maintain/update agency listings (UL, ETL, CSA, etc.) to support assigned components.

What you will bring:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in an Engineering discipline.

  • Mechanical component evaluation/design experience is a plus.

  • Experience in Residential HVAC products is a plus.
