Job description

Job Overview

This is an entry level position to operate and maintain in a continuous job readiness the Coiled Tubing Unit (CTU) as well as auxiliary equipment such as the Injector Head and Blow-Out Preventer (BOP) under routine conditions. The Coil Operator function tests the assigned equipment, provide feedback on its serviceability, and coordinate efforts with the maintenance team to restore the equipment’s job readiness status. Individuals in this position is able to provide leadership and mentor junior crew members such as the Pump and Equipment operator.

Duties

  • Operates coiled tubing control console including Blow-Out Preventer (BOP), Injector Head, Coil Tubing Reel, Hose Reel, and any other Coiled Tubing Unit (CTU) equipment under routine scenarios independent of supervision.
  • Performs pre-job function testing for CTU and auxiliary equipment to report the result to the Service Supervisor and note details in Microsoft Teams.
  • Role models onsite safe and expedient service delivery including crane, rigging, and lifting operations.
  • Proactively alerts Service Supervisor when there are deviations from job execution conditions, Gladiator’s job standards, or disagreement with onsite customer and/or tool hand occurs.
  • Coordinates onsite field operation activities such as rig-up/rig-down with Pump Operator, Equipment Operators, and third-party personnel such as the crane operator to meet task duration metrics.
  • Responsible for the continued job readiness of CTU and auxiliary equipment through the completion of a post job STEM.
  • Proactively engages maintenance department to maintain CTU equipment in a continuous job ready status resulting from accurate, complete, and timely inspections and documentation.
  • Assists the Service Supervisor on location in providing excellent customer service.
  • Performs a detailed pass down to the relief CTU operator with the current and specific coiled tubing operational status as well as any anticipated changes.
  • Performs data acquisition, data management, and data distributions during coiled tubing job in real time and reports malfunctions in an expeditious manner.
  • Maintains a detailed job logs of specific on-site events using Microsoft Teams in real time from the time the equipment arrives on location to the time the equipment departs location.
  • Role models good housekeeping techniques around onsite equipment as well as inside the CTU control room.
  • Mentors junior crew members with jobsite coiled tubing services such as rig-up, continued operations, and rig-down, with detailed explanations on their role for exceptional service delivery.
  • Able to take detailed directions and accurately relay them to onsite personnel including to junior crew members, third-party personnel, and customer.
  • Takes responsibility for the safety of others on the crew, particularly junior crew members.
  • Demonstrates behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible serving as a role model for all personnel.

Skills

  • Comprehensive knowledge of rig-up/rig-down sequence in coiled tubing operations.
  • Prior experience operating pumping units used in coiled tubing operations.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in collaborating with colleagues and in creating a team working environment.
  • Ability to operate the coiled tubing pumping units under most conditions with minimal supervision.
