Relationship Manager Intern information

What does a relationship manager intern do?

A Relationship Manager Intern supports the relationship management team by assisting with client communications, preparing reports, and learning about client portfolio management. Interns often help address client inquiries, conduct market research, and participate in meetings to gain firsthand experience in building and maintaining strong client relationships. This internship is designed to provide exposure to the financial industry and develop essential skills in customer service, communication, and problem-solving.

What types of projects and client interactions can a relationship manager intern expect during their internship?

As a Relationship Manager Intern, you can expect to work closely with senior relationship managers to support client onboarding, assist with account reviews, and help prepare client presentations. Interns often participate in meetings with clients or prospects, gaining valuable exposure to client communication and needs assessment. You'll also collaborate with internal teams such as credit analysts, product specialists, and compliance officers to address client requests and ensure smooth service delivery. These experiences help interns build foundational skills in client management and teamwork within a financial or corporate environment.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a relationship manager intern, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Relationship Manager Intern, you need a foundation in business or finance, strong interpersonal skills, and relevant academic coursework, often accompanied by ongoing studies toward a bachelor's degree. Familiarity with CRM software, Microsoft Office Suite, and digital communication tools is typically required. Excellent communication, active listening, and organizational skills help you stand out in building and maintaining client relationships. These abilities are vital for supporting client satisfaction, fostering trust, and contributing to the team’s overall success.

Job description

Iconica is seeking a Construction Project Management Intern to join our team in Summer 2027!
At Iconica, we take a collaborative approach to design and construction, bringing architecture, engineering, and construction together under one roof. We foster a supportive, team-oriented environment where people can grow professionally while contributing to meaningful projects. As a full-service firm, we prioritize strong relationships, thoughtful solutions, and successful outcomes—for both our clients and our team.

  • Attend project coordination meetings with internal teams and clients.
  • Assist with communicating project needs and interpreting construction documents.
  • Support project quality through reporting, shop drawing reviews, punch list tracking, and warranty follow-ups.
  • Participate in subcontractor pre-award meetings, review scopes of work, help with owner payment requests, manage financial reporting, and coordinate RFIs between field and design teams.
  • Assist with maintaining project schedules and tracking milestones to help ensure client commitments are met.
  • Conduct site visits to monitor subcontractor progress and complete safety audits.
  • Participate in budget discussions, assist with monthly updates, and collaborate with the preconstruction team on scope development and estimates.
  • Build relationships with clients and subcontractors.
Qualified candidates will have the following:
  • Enrollment in a Civil Engineering or Construction Management program.
  • Previous internship experience in design-build or construction (preferred).
