Job description

The Relationship Associate will be responsible for supporting the Public Sector Banking team and its clients with various types of financial transactions across Citi's Banking, Markets, and Services businesses. The Relationship Associate will play an important intermediary role between clients and various groups within Citi and must act as a client advocate while holding partners accountable to deliver with high standards. The goal of this position is to deliver the best client experience while identifying cross-sell opportunities and deepening client relationships. The Relationship Associate will be guided by the Public Sector Banking Parent Account Managers (PAMs) and the Public Sector Banking Leadership team.
Description of Role & Responsibilities
  • Deliver the highest degree of client satisfaction through day-to-day execution and client interactions guided by the Parent Account Managers (PAMs)
  • Identify cross-sell opportunities across Banking, Markets, and Services leveraging all client interactions and converting challenges to opportunities
  • Develop deep knowledge of the client and their finance/banking operations to advocate for their needs within the Citi network and contribute to the sales process and sales deal teams
  • Build working relationships with all internal, front, middle and back-office stakeholders and external stakeholders to ensure timely delivery, support, and problem resolution for client needs
  • Lead timely escalations with internal stakeholders to break down silos and remove barriers to execution
  • Become expert in navigating Citi processes and systems and apply a Public Sector lens to ensure the unique needs of our sector are met
  • Master Opus, CRM, and all relevant pipeline systems to enter and manage opportunities and deals in the relevant systems
  • Monitor and track pipeline to assist Parent Account Managers (PAMs) with overall sales process
  • Contribute to the sales process, proposals, content for client meetings, and RFP responses
  • Ensure strong governance on mapping/marketing hierarchies to ensure revenues earned from all products are reflected accurately
  • Assist Bankers with the preparation of account plans, relationship reviews and briefings
  • Facilitate credit originations, credit allocation, approvals, documentation, bookings, fee collections and renewals across various contracts, as well as credit allocation from Parent Account Managers (PAMs) and Credit Risk Management
  • Perform financial and operational investigations, including cash management and trade services, credit, foreign exchange - ensuring timely resolution and client satisfaction
  • Work with relevant colleagues to perform various due diligence activities including onboarding, Know Your Client (KYC) requirements, including timely origination, monitoring, renewals and completion across all product and hierarchy/marketing levels
  • Serve as main point of contact for Citi's cross-functional units such as KYC-AML and Credit Operations to ensure compliance with regulatory and credit-related legal requirements
  • Appropriately assess risk, demonstrate consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citi, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of treasury models and philosophies (funding model, cash management strategy, decision making, wallet sharing, etc.)
  • Understanding of Banking, Markets, and Services products
  • Comprehensive knowledge of support, credit, and legal documentation requirements (e.g. Letters of Comfort, parent guarantees, LC's, ISDA/CSA, Short Term Loan agreements, Cards Agreements, etc.)

Qualifications:
  • 6-10 years of relevant work experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, preferred degree in Economics, Finance, Business Administration, or political science/international affairs
