Position Summary

The Compliance & Financial Operations Associate will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of the Company’s compliance program and financial operations while serving as the primary liaison with regulators and auditors. The Associate will also serve as the Consumer Contact to respond to complaints from consumers, regulatory agencies and third parties in a timely manner and to log and track all such complaints in accordance with the Company’s Complaint Resolution Plan.

This unique opportunity is ideal for a strong accounting and/or consumer finance background who is seeking broad exposure to consumer finance, regulatory compliance, financial operations and executive leadership.

The successful candidate will work directly with the President & CEO of UMH American Dream and chair the Compliance Committee to supervise the compliance activities and manage its quality assurance and compliance risk. The candidate will play an integral role in ensuring UMH American Dream operates with the highest standards of regulatory compliance, financial integrity, and operational excellence.

Primary Responsibilities Compliance
  • Lead the day-to‑day compliance function for a growing multi‑state consumer finance company.
  • Coordinate mortgage lender and loan servicing licensing across multiple states.
  • Monitor changes in federal and state consumer lending laws and regulations and recommend necessary policy or procedural changes.
  • Maintain corporate records, compliance documentation, and licensing files.
  • Coordinate regulatory examinations, audits, licensing renewals, and responses to regulatory inquiries.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of compliance policies and procedures.
Financial Operations
  • Lead loan accounting, servicing accounting, reconciliations, and financial operational processes.
  • Coordinate monthly reporting, reconciliations, and operational controls.
  • Partner with accounting, auditors, regulators, banking partners, and third‑party vendors.
  • Develop and document financial operations procedures and internal controls.
  • The position includes all other responsibilities that may be necessary to fulfill the duties associated with the position or as may be assigned.
Qualifications Required
  • Accounting, consumer finance, or business background strongly preferred. Candidates with an accounting degree or meaningful financial operations experience are highly encouraged to apply.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
  • High ethical standards, sound judgment, and strong professional integrity.
  • Proficiency with Google Office Suite and/or Microsoft 365/Office and the ability to quickly learn lending, compliance, and financial technology platforms.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting a mortgage lender, consumer finance company, bank, manufactured housing lender, or loan servicer.
  • Familiarity with federal consumer lending regulations, including TILA, RESPA, ECOA, FCRA, Fair Housing, UDAAP, and related compliance requirements.
  • Experience with loan accounting, servicing reconciliations, financial reporting, or operational controls.
  • Desire to grow into a senior leadership role overseeing compliance and financial operations.
Physical requirements of the job
  • Frequent use of computer, keyboard, mouse and phone during the workday.
  • No Heavy lifting is required.
  • Working indoors in an office environment
Travel
  • Minimal travel to Headquarters one to two times per year.
Work Schedule
  • Full‑time schedule, Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week
