JOB SUMMARY AND SCOPE

The Rehabilitation Clerk assists the Director of Rehabilitation Services and therapy Staff to maintain orderly functioning of the department including scheduling of patients, assisting in patient treatment as appropriate, verifying patient insurance coverage for therapy, and assuring the daily functioning of the department.

Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSย 

  • No license required but a CNA certificate is a plus.
  • High school diploma.ย 
  • Prior health care experience beneficialย 
  • Good people and communication skills as you are the first to interface with the public. Good phone etiquette. Patience. Good organizational skills required to develop an effective daily patient schedule and understanding of insurance regulations for therapy.ย ย 
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Office. An understanding of hospital billing and medical insurances.
  • Able to learn new skills and procedures. Flexibility in handling day to day issues of scheduling and able to perform a variety of tasks to assist patients and therapists. Work amiably with all, demonstrating tact, poise, and consideration to secure cooperation. Good organizational and customer service skills.ย ย 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSย 

  • Responsible for cleaning of the hydroculator, paraffin bath, and freezers as indicated by use.
  • Light housekeeping chores to assure treatment areas are in good order each day.
  • Maintains order of supplies and storage cupboards
  • Greeting, registering, and scheduling all out patients
  • Answering and screening all phone calls.
  • Assuring that all referrals are completeย 
  • Communicates with all physician offices, as necessary, to assure patient information and insurances are correct.ย ย 
  • Obtains and keeps an accurate record of all pre-authorizations for outpatient treatment.
  • Obtains authorization for patient visits and inputs the information into CERNER and NetHealth electronic patient charts.
  • Scans relevant documentation into the electronic medical record including MD order, consent to treat, CX/no show policy, HEP, signed POC, etc.
  • Responsible for the registration of outpatient accounts.
  • Orders departmental supplies; receives and stocks supplies
  • Maintains supply of department forms
  • As instructed and supervised by a therapist, may participate in patient treatment.ย 
  • Assists with transport of patients as needed.
  • Seeks out needed information, staying informed and involved, by attending meetings, reading memos, policies, meeting minutes, newsletters, email and other appropriate information in a timely manner.
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality, including observing appropriate break times and extending a scheduled shift when necessary to meet patient demands
  • Performs duties in a safe manner, in compliance with all safety policies and procedures
  • Complies with the Code of Conduct and all appropriate policies and procedures
  • Other duties, as assigned, that are relevant to the position and department
