Job description


MC: Patient Safety and Reliabi-(Full Time, Days )
Job Summary: The Regulatory Specialist improves patient safety and quality. Is actively involved in performing patient care audits and tracers to ensure that the organization is in a constant state of regulatory readiness for any accrediting and/or licensing agency; processes documentation practices, provides just-in-time training with staff and physicians, and serves as a resource to maximize performance and compliance with hospital policy and best practices; serves as the unit-based subject matter expert for regulatory regulations of all applicable local, state and federal agencies and accrediting bodies. Performs other duties as needed.
Education and Experience: Associate's Degree in Nursing required. Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required (in progress acceptable with quarterly progress reports). Minimum two years of experience as a Clinical Nurse in a acute care facility required.
Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of regulatory standards and demonstrated ability to interpret standards with respect to hospital operations. Knowledge of healthcare laws and regulations required. Experience which has provided opportunity to demonstrate competencies in education or training required. Able to read; write legibly; demonstrate excellent computer proficiency in Quantros, Microsoft Office products, Regulatory websites; speak in English with professional quality; strong written and verbal communication skills as evidenced by written memorandums and oral presentations; demonstrate teaching skills with the ability to articulate complex regulatory information in understandable terms to staff at all levels within the organization. Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; provide leadership; be assertive and consistent in following and enforcing policies; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate; accept direction. Able to think critically; perform math and statistical functions; manage multiple assignments effectively; compose written material; organize and prioritize workload; work well under pressure; problem solve; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail; work independently with minimal supervision. Able to distinguish colors as necessary; write, hear, read and speak sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone; identify and distinguish various sounds associated with workplace; see adequately to read computer screens and written documents necessary to the position.
Licensures and Certifications: Active California RN License required.
