What does a regulatory associate do?
As a regulatory associate or regulatory affairs associate, your job is to coordinate compliance with internal—and occasionally external—regulations. This work involves checking each inspection review for accuracy, using safety data sheets (SDS), gathering and compiling documentation for products, and submitting material for license renewals and registrations. In this role, you often create management templates, study existing report documents, oversee the collection of consent forms, and audit the company for any sign of regulatory noncompliance. Some regulatory associates frequently travel to perform audits at various locations. Depending on the industry, you may have additional tasks that involve meeting state or federal guidelines.

What is the difference between Regulatory Associate vs Compliance Specialist?
| Aspect | Regulatory Associate | Compliance Specialist |
|---|---|---|
| Required Credentials | Bachelor's degree in life sciences, regulatory affairs, or related field; certifications like RAC are a plus | Bachelor's degree in law, business, or related; certifications like CCEP may be relevant |
| Work Environment | Pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical device companies; regulatory departments | Corporate compliance departments across various industries, including healthcare and finance |
| Employer & Industry Usage | Used in regulated industries to prepare and submit regulatory documents | Used to ensure company adherence to laws and regulations, often involving audits and policy development |
The Regulatory Associate primarily focuses on preparing and managing regulatory submissions within life sciences industries, while the Compliance Specialist ensures ongoing adherence to laws and regulations across various sectors. Both roles require similar educational backgrounds and certifications, but their core responsibilities and work environments differ slightly, with Regulatory Associates working more directly with regulatory agencies and Compliance Specialists focusing on internal compliance processes.

Job description
The Regulatory Readiness team exists to make sure DoorDash can move into new regulatory environments - new laws, new jurisdictions, new rules governing how we operate - without getting caught flat-footed. We sit at the intersection of Legal, Compliance, Product, and Operations, translating regulatory requirements that are often vague or evolving into concrete operational plans: what needs to change, by when, and how we'll know it's actually working. When a new rule is announced, we're the team that turns "here's what the law says" into "here's what we're doing about it."
About the Role
You are a data-driven truth seeker and strategic operator. You're comfortable being handed a problem with no clean answer - ambiguous regulatory language, incomplete data, competing interpretations - and turning it into a clear recommendation. You move fast without cutting corners on the details that actually matter, and you know how to bring Legal, Engineering, Product, Design and Ops along with you rather than working around them.
You're excited about this opportunity because you will...
- Have the opportunity to influence and align across the company - partner with Engineering, Design, Product, Marketing, and Ops to turn a regulatory requirement into a shipped operational change and new user experience
- Move at the pace regulatory deadlines demand, prioritizing ruthlessly and being able to pivot quickly and seamlessly while bringing your cross functional partners along for the ride
- Own and build durable processes end to end, not just identify one-off fixes - the frameworks and monitoring you put in place should outlast the specific regulation that prompted them
- Bachelor's Degree
- 3+ years of experience in consulting, strategy, operations, technology, investment banking, analytics or related experience; high-growth experience preferred
- Interest operating in a fast-paced, ownership-driven environment
- Experience contributing to large projects, hitting goals, and succeeding in a team environment
- Proven problem solving and analytical skills; proficiency in SQL and expertise in Excel (can maintain complex spreadsheets/sheets) are required
- Ability to thoughtfully consider multiple perspectives and effectively communicate them to drive understanding and alignment
Compensation
The successful candidate's starting pay will fall within the pay range listed below and is determined based on job-related factors including, but not limited to, skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. Base salary is localized according to an employee's work location. Ranges are market-dependent and may be modified in the future.
In addition to base salary, the compensation for this role includes opportunities for equity grants. Talk to your recruiter for more information.
DoorDash cares about you and your overall well-being. That's why we offer a comprehensive benefits package to all regular employees, which includes a 401(k) plan with employer matching, 16 weeks of paid parental leave, wellness benefits, commuter benefits match, paid time off and paid sick leave in compliance with applicable laws (e.g. Colorado Healthy Families and Workplaces Act). DoorDash also offers medical, dental, and vision benefits, 11 paid holidays, disability and basic life insurance, family-forming assistance, and a mental health program, among others.
To learn more about our benefits, visit our careers page here.
See below for paid time off details:
- For salaried roles: flexible paid time off/vacation, plus 80 hours of paid sick time per year.
- For hourly roles: vacation accrued at about 1 hour for every 25.97 hours worked (e.g. about 6.7 hours/month if working 40 hours/week; about 3.4 hours/month if working 20 hours/week), and paid sick time accrued at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked (e.g. about 5.8 hours/month if working 40 hours/week; about 2.9 hours/month if working 20 hours/week).
The national base pay range for this position within the United States, including Illinois and Colorado.
$87,000-$128,000 USD
