Job description

Position Overview

The role involves conducting both routine and advanced interventional radiology (IR) procedures, addressing both scheduled and urgent cases while adhering to departmental quality control and exam data integrity standards.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Examinations and Procedures
    • Assess and analyze requests for IR procedures.
    • Verify procedure-specific details with the IR physician, ensuring the availability of necessary imaging tools, software, therapeutic devices, and supplies.
    • Select suitable equipment and technical settings to enhance image quality while minimizing patient radiation exposure (ALARA principle).
    • Adhere to aseptic techniques during specimen collection and handling.
    • Prepare the procedure tray, imaging settings, therapeutic devices, and supplies according to physician guidelines.
    • Oversee patient positioning, sterile preparation, and draping.
    • Assist in the procedure room by retrieving and unwrapping surgical items and equipment.
    • Act as the second scrub for the physician when necessary.
    • Follow departmental quality control and exam data integrity protocols.
    • Utilize High Reliability Communication techniques.
  • Patient and Family Interaction
    • Address the individual needs and clinical conditions of patients.
    • Foster a supportive atmosphere for both patients and their families.
    • Collaborate with the IR team to develop a patient procedure plan by evaluating the physical and emotional well-being of patients.
  • Equipment Management
    • Identify and report any equipment malfunctions.
  • General Duties
    • Engage in departmental and hospital meetings.
    • Comply with established ETU protocols.

Essential Qualifications

Education:

  • Associate's Degree in Allied Health.

Experience:

  • Minimum of one year working as a Radiologic Technologist.

Licensure and Certifications:

  • Registered with the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT).
  • Current BLS Certification.
