Job description

The Blueprint (Role Profile)

The Northern Regional Sales Manager - Weller, Military & Defense is responsible for owning sales growth, customer relationships, and channel execution across the assigned Northern U.S. territory, with a focused emphasis on military, defense, aerospace, government contractor, and related industrial end-user markets. This role owns customer-facing engagement with end users, distributors, manufacturer representatives, and strategic accounts; develops business opportunities within military and defense-focused channels; and drives profitable sales growth across the territory.

The Build (Responsibilities)
  • Own regional business plans to grow Weller sales across the Northern Region of North America, serving as the primary commercial contact for military, defense-related accounts to convert new business opportunities through assessing customer needs
  • Manage regional agencies and distribution partners to ensure aligned coverage, sales execution, customer support, and territory accountability.
  • Own strategic end-user accounts within the territory, including account planning, opportunity development, follow-through, conversion, and retention.
  • Understand customer requirements to drive profitable growth by balancing revenue opportunities, product mix, inventory considerations, customer commitments, and competitive positioning across the Weller portfolio
  • Maintain strong product and application knowledge across the Weller Professional portfolio, including technical use cases relevant to electronics, industrial, military, and defense customers.
  • Partner with Supply Chain and the ORO plant to support accurate forecasting, inventory availability, and product planning for regional sales demand.
  • Guide manufacturer representatives and sales agents through clear direction, coaching, accountability, and support for effective regional coverage.
  • Report territory activity, forecasting updates, user feedback, market trends, competitive actions, sales meeting participation, trade event activity, and recommendations that improve sales productivity.
The Toolbox (Qualifications)
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent outside sales or sales engineering experience
  • Minimum of 10 years of sales experience with demonstrated proficiency in value-based selling, strategic account planning, and territory management.
  • Minimum of 3 years selling in the industrial, military, defense, aerospace manufacturing, electronics, OEM, EMS, or technical industries
  • Ability to travel overnight approximately 40% of time in the field supporting customer meetings, distributor engagement, end-user visits, and new opportunity development

This position's anticipated annual salary range is $79,000 - $117,000 with a Sales Incentive Plan; at plan, this position's SIP opportunity is 31%. Apex Tool Group's competitive compensation package includes medical, dental, vision, life and short term and long-term coverage/insurance, 401(k) Savings Plan, educational assistance, 15 days paid vacation, and 11 paid holidays.
