Job description

About 8Fleet

8Fleet is building the infrastructure to move the world. We're the fastest-growing ride-hail fleet operator, rapidly scaling non-autonomous fleets in key markets today while building the operational backbone that will power mass autonomous vehicle adoption tomorrow. As we expand into new markets, we're looking for a Regional Operations Manager to help our Market Managers and Regional GMs run tight, high-performing operations across every market in their region.

About the Role

The Regional Operations Manager is a highly analytical, cross-functional operating leader who drives performance and operational excellence across multiple 8Fleet markets — building the operating systems, analytics, and management mechanisms that let a rapidly scaling regional organization perform consistently, not simply coordinating it.

Working directly with the Regional GM and Market Managers, you'll have full visibility into the regional operation — driver supply, fleet utilization, labor, safety, and financial performance — and own identifying the highest-leverage opportunities to improve the business.

You'll develop a deep understanding of what drives regional performance, catching problems before they become failures. When a market finds a better way of operating, you turn it into a repeatable system deployed region-wide; when performance slips, you diagnose the root cause and work with local leadership to get back on track.

The role sits at the intersection of strategy, analytics, technology, and frontline operations — one day analyzing utilization data for untapped capacity, the next building an automated monitoring tool or working onsite with a Market Manager on an urgent challenge. As the region scales, this role will shape how 8Fleet operates at scale.

Key Responsibilities Regional Performance Management
  • Partner with the Regional GM to drive operating and financial performance across the region, translating company objectives into measurable market-level targets and execution plans.

  • Own the regional operating cadence, including KPI scorecards, market performance reviews, forecasting, and root-cause analysis.

  • Maintain a comprehensive view of regional performance across driver supply, fleet utilization, productivity, labor efficiency, safety, and financial performance.

  • Identify emerging performance risks and opportunities before they materially impact the business and develop clear action plans with market leadership.

Operating Systems, Analytics, & Automation
  • Build and continuously improve the operating infrastructure used to manage a complex, distributed fleet operation at scale.

  • Develop dashboards, reporting systems, forecasting tools, and automated workflows that give regional and market leadership real-time visibility into operational performance.

  • Identify manual or inefficient processes and design technology-enabled solutions that improve speed, accuracy, and management leverage.

Multi-Market Operational Excellence
  • Establish and maintain regional operating standards across markets while allowing local teams to adapt execution to market-specific conditions.

  • Identify best practices developed within individual markets and convert them into repeatable playbooks, SOPs, and tools that can be deployed region-wide.

  • Audit market operations to identify execution gaps and work directly with Market Managers to build and execute corrective action plans.

  • Lead cross-market initiatives focused on improving productivity, utilization, reliability, safety, and driver experience.

Workforce Strategy & Driver Supply
  • Partner with Market Managers, Recruiting, Growth, and People teams to ensure each market has sufficient driver supply to meet fleet and revenue targets.

  • Develop regional workforce planning models that translate vehicle capacity and demand forecasts into hiring, scheduling, and retention requirements.

  • Analyze driver utilization, availability, attendance, retention, and scheduling behavior to identify structural gaps in workforce performance.

  • Design and deploy programs that improve shift fulfillment, attendance, engagement, and retention across the region.

Fleet Productivity & Operational Capacity
  • Develop a regional view of fleet availability, utilization, downtime, and vehicle productivity.

  • Partner with Fleet and market leadership to identify constraints preventing vehicles from generating revenue and drive initiatives to increase productive fleet capacity.

  • Develop processes and escalation mechanisms that reduce vehicle downtime and ensure operational issues are surfaced and resolved quickly.

Strategic Initiatives & Market Expansion
  • Lead high-priority regional initiatives that cut across markets or functions and require structured problem solving and disciplined execution.

  • Support the launch and stabilization of new markets, depots, fleet programs, and operating models.

  • Develop launch playbooks, staffing models, and performance targets that enable new operations to ramp quickly and predictably.

  • Partner with regional and company leadership on longer-term operating strategy as the business expands.

Safety, Compliance & Operational Risk
  • Partner with Safety and Compliance leadership to maintain consistent operational and regulatory standards across all regional markets.

  • Establish audit mechanisms and performance reporting to proactively identify safety, compliance, and operational risks.

  • Analyze incidents and recurring operational failures to identify systemic root causes and implement preventative solutions.

Successful Candidates Will Bring
  • 5+ years of experience in operations, strategy & operations, management consulting, marketplace operations, logistics, transportation, or another analytically rigorous operating environment.

  • Demonstrated experience managing or supporting multi-site, multi-market, or distributed operations at meaningful scale, with a track record leading complex, cross-functional initiatives.

  • Exceptional analytical ability with experience using data to diagnose complex problems, identify root causes, and drive measurable operational improvements.

  • Experience building scalable processes, dashboards, operating mechanisms, or technology-enabled workflows from the ground up.

  • Ability to move fluidly between strategic thinking and frontline execution — equally comfortable presenting an analysis to senior leadership and working onsite with an operating team to solve a problem.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to simplify complex problems and influence leaders across functions.

  • Comfort operating in ambiguous, rapidly changing environments with a high level of ownership and urgency.

  • Advanced proficiency with spreadsheets and operational analytics; experience with SQL, BI tools, or AI-enabled workflows is strongly preferred.

  • BA/BS with an impressive academic record.

  • Willingness to travel regularly between markets and spend meaningful time embedded with frontline operating teams.
