Job description

Summary

The senior consultant role will be a part of the Risk + Emergency Management Solutions Practice area. This practice area specializes in conducting risk assessments, preparing security documentation, physical security assessments, emergency management planning, exercises, and aiding clients in emergency situations. This is a multidisciplinary team which works across Guidepost to support Security Technology Consulting and Monitoring Compliance & Investigations.

As a Senior Consultant, you will report directly to Vice President of Risk + Emergency Management Solutions. While this will be an individual contributor role, the position has significant growth potential.

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead comprehensive risk assessments by identifying threats and vulnerabilities, analyzing data to evaluate impact and likelihood, and translating findings into actionable risk insights.
  • Partner with clients to understand their security and emergency management needs, providing expert guidance on best practices and developing tailored risk management and emergency preparedness solutions.
  • Manage complex, multi‑stakeholder security and emergency management projects across multiple geographic locations, ensuring high‑quality delivery and effective coordination.
  • Leverage ASIS International, the Security Industry Association (SIA), InfraGard, Overseas Security Advisory Council (OSAC), Association of Threat Assessment Professionals (ATAP), Association of International Risk Intelligence Professionals (AIRIP), International Association of Emergency Managers, and other international and national security or risk organizations and standards and guidelines developing organizations.
  • Stay up-to-date on industry trends, emerging threats, and regulatory changes to continuously enhance risk analysis and decision-making capabilities.
  • Coordinate effectively with internal teams and external partners, applying strong communication skills and positive stakeholder engagement.
  • Develop, maintain, and manage accurate documentation and records, including risk assessments, emergency plans, and crisis response materials.
  • Produce and distribute clear, timely reports and written deliverables to communicate the status and outcomes of risk management initiatives to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support the development, review, and peer review of Guidepost work products, including training materials, assessments, policies and procedures, standards documents, and proposals.
  • Contribute to business development efforts through the creation and editing of proposals, presentations, blogs, and other promotional content.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or Master’s degree in emergency management or security-related field (Emergency Management, International Relations, Security Studies, Political Science, Criminal Justice, Psychology)
  • Five (5) to six (6) years of experience in the risk management, emergency preparedness within the security and investigation sector
  • Command-level law enforcement or public safety leadership experience.
  • Experience writing reports and proposals including being comfortable presenting to clients and executive leadership.
  • ASIS International Certifications (PSP®, CPP®, PCI®)
  • Additional Certifications Certified Threat Manager (CTM), Certified Emergency Manager (CEM), Project Management Professional (PMP®)
  • Experience with Salesforce, Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, Microsoft Forms, PowerBI.
  • Active membership in ASIS International or similar security or emergency management associations (International Association of Emergency Managers).

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are generally Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. This position requires some long hours and weekend work but provides significant flexibility. Embedded onsite work is not a regular requirement.

Travel

Travel out-of-area to client or other regional sites and overnight travel are expected.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, much of the work may be done sitting at a desk, using a computer, typing, handling phone calls, filing, and using office equipment such as like printers and copiers. The employee must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds
