Job description

This position is based in one of the markets in the Region:

(State of MA- NorthHampton, West Wareham, Gloucester) and Newburgh, NY

Salary Range: $112,000-$168,000 - Based on Experience

Position Summary:

The Regional Director of Operations is a key member of the Company’s leadership team responsible for leading a large segment of the company’s Energy operations. This position manages General Managers and Delivery Center Managers who are directly responsible for ensuring an exceptional customer experience in specific geographic areas. The Regional Director of Operations also provides leadership in support of the Dead River Company Mission, Strategic Plan, and Customer Guarantees and Pledges. This is a key position responsible for achieving profitability targets. This position is also a member of the corporate Leadership Council that is directly involved with achieving the company’s Strategic Plan.

Responsibilities:

  • Mentors and develops direct reports (General Managers and Delivery Center Managers) through coaching, providing performance feedback, and offering advice to foster professional growth and development.
  • Workscloselywithdirectreportstoeffectivelyexecutethemission,fulfillstrategicobjectives,achieveperformancetargets,andmeetprofitabilitygoals.
  • EvaluatesperformanceofdirectreportsthroughthePerformanceScorecard.Keymemberofmanagementteamthatevaluates/calibratesscorecardsforallmanagersinthereportingstructure.Reviewsandapprovesannualmeritwageincreases.
  • Activelyinvolvedinachievingthecompany’sStrategicPlanasamemberoftheLeadershipCouncil.
  • In collaboration with the VP of Operations, reviews and sets retail pricing of energy products in order to maximize gross margin while remaining competitive within each market segment. Monitors and gathers competitive market data from General Managers and keeps the VP of Operations informed.
  • CollaborateswiththeDirectorofSales,DirectorofMarketing,andkeySharedServicesleaderstoprepareforthelaunchofsalesandmarketinginitiativesandenhancetheoverallcustomerexperience.
  • Reviews and approves annual operating budgets and capital budgets for Market locations. Reviews monthly financial statements with each General Manager. Works closely with General Managers to resolve significant budget variances.
  • Attainsageneralunderstandingoftheenergysoftwaremanagementsystemalongwithothersystemsforaccountingandfinancialcontrol.
  • Attains a thorough knowledge and understanding of all company policies, procedures, and programs. Gains an understanding of all federal and state laws pertaining to petroleum distribution and service.
  • Instrumentalinreviewing,updating,andformulatingpoliciesandproceduresrelatingtocustomerexperience.
  • Sets a high standard of corporate image and strives to uphold the integrity of company policies and procedures.
  • Assumesleadershiprolesintradeassociationsandcommunitynon-profitsasopportunitiesarise.
  • Participatesinspecialprojectsasneeded.

Education/Experience:

Abachelor’sdegreeinbusinessadministrationorrelatedfieldoranequivalentcombinationofeducationandexperienceisrequired.Thispositionrequiresaminimumof7yearsofexperienceleadingpeople.Aminimumof7yearsofpreviousexperiencemanagingafull-serviceenergyoperationisstronglypreferred.
