Position & Company Synopsis
To support this upward trajectory, a PE backed HVAC company is looking for a high-caliber Controller to serve as the operational right hand to the Chief Financial Officer. This role is a premier opportunity for an ambitious Senior Accounting Manager or Assistant Controller to step up into a top seat, taking full ownership of accounting operations, implementing critical internal controls, and converting heavy data into clear, strategic financial insights.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the entire month-end close process end-to-end with minimal daily supervision, ensuring accurate and timely standard close execution.
  • Standardize and refine the company's job costing structure for management reporting purposes.
  • Oversee and execute complex project-based revenue recognition utilizing the Percentage of Completion method.
  • Generate and deliver accurate monthly balance sheet and P&L packages to the CEO, COO, and CFO.
  • Provide deep, data-driven financial analysis and comprehensive variance commentaries alongside monthly reporting packages to guide business visibility.
  • Directly supervise, mentor, and develop core accounting staff members, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and Corporate Accounting Manager.
  • Set operational documentation standards for procurement, optimize vendor payment timing, and protect working capital efficiency.
  • Document and implement baseline internal financial controls across payroll, cash management, and accounts payable .
  • Manage all multi-state tax operations, including payroll tax deposits, nexus tracking across states, and local business license filings.
  • Prepare annual entity reporting, 1099 filings, and year-end workpapers, serving as the primary audit liaison with Baker Tilly
  • Act as a critical partner to the CFO on corporate budgeting, forecasting, year-end financial reviews, and ad-hoc financial analysis such as M&A diligence.

Experience
Proven, hands-on experience independently owning the month-end close process and successfully scaling mid-market accounting operations.
  • High level of technical comfort navigating, troubleshooting, and pulling data out of a sophisticated Sage Intacct, Oracle Fusion, NetSuite, SAP S/4 Hana, or other cloud based ERP's.
  • Advanced proficiency handling large, deep data environments utilizing PowerBI and heavy Excel modeling.
  • Past accounting exposure in growth environments
