Job description

How often have you had an opportunity to be part of a team that is tasked with solving a huge business problem through disruptive, innovative technology. If you want to join a fast-paced, innovative team that is making history, reinventing an industry and breaking new ground for Amazon, this is the place for you. Surface Transportation org is expanding and introducing new capabilities to our Fleet Management business that supports all Middle Mile assets (tractors, trailers, box trucks, hostlers).

In this role you will deliver world class solutions while wearing many hats and working in a highly collaborative environment that is more startup than big company.
This role will require strong leadership skills, ability to identify trends with limited data and interaction/influence with teams across Amazon to drive the development of our maintenance business. This Industry Specialist will be responsible for defining the vision, roadmap and driving program execution of our Fleet Management business with a specific focus on maximizing uptime and reducing cost for non-powered assets. A core pillar of this role is building and scaling a world-class Vendor Quality Audit Program - establishing a multi-tiered accountability framework spanning vendor self-audits, external auditor reviews, and internal quality assurance audits to drive repair standards, reduce defects, and improve Mean Time Between Groundings across the fleet

Success in this role requires the ability to work with large, complex data sets - extracting actionable insights, identifying failure trends, and translating data into decisions that drive fleet performance and vendor accountability.
In addition, this role will own the strategy and execution for our growing Electric Vehicle asset (e.g. Hostler) space within Middle Mile, with a focus on driving asset reliability and improving Mean Time Between Groundings across our Electric Vehicle assets (e.g. Hostler)

This includes identifying and addressing root cause failure patterns - including propulsion system defects, Vehicle Maintenance Reporting Standard (VMRS) data gaps, and recurring downtime drivers - to improve asset health and close the gap between current uptime performance and our financial plan and stretch Mean Time Between Grounding (MTBG) targets. The role requires deep asset-level analytical rigor, working across OEM partners, 3P vendors, and internal stakeholders to surface failure trends, validate repair outcomes, and ensure the fleet is performing to standard.
Key job responsibilities
Identify top contributors to assigned asset downtime and develop targeted programs to mitigate failure patterns and improve fleet reliability.
Drive program objectives by providing end-to-end program management - defining project plans, managing implementation activities, and developing processes, documentation, and communications for program rollout and ongoing support.
Author whitepapers to gain initial buy-in and stakeholder alignment, as well as provide structured status updates as programs complete critical milestones.
Identify key performance metrics and build a reporting suite that enables effective program management at full scale.
Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for assigned assets, developing an A-to-Z understanding of asset systems and providing informed support to internal customers and cross-functional partners.
Drive resolution of critical asset issues and lead deep dives into supporting processes and systems to ensure thorough root cause analysis, corrective action, and measurable improvement in customer experience.
Define key performance indicators - develop metrics and service level agreements for core programs and processes, and track delivery against program objectives as they relate to assigned Middle Mile assets.
