Job Description:
The Opportunity
The UF Student Health Care Center is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners (APRN) to join our team. This position involves providing comprehensive psychiatric care and consultation services for students facing various mental health challenges, including general issues, trauma, eating disorders, and substance abuse. Additionally, the role includes maintaining clinical records and participating in after-hours psychiatric emergency services, serving the UF student community, and collaborating with various campus entities.
The Essential Functions of the positions are as follows:
Assessment, Diagnosis, Treatment & Consultation Services:
Provides psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, medication evaluation, treatment, follow-up care, and crisis intervention/emergency services for students with general mental health issues as well as those with trauma, eating disorders, and alcohol/substance abuse issues.
Provides psychiatric consultation services, as requested, to Counseling and Wellness Center (CWC) therapy staff, Student Health Care Center (SHCC) medical providers, student groups, and faculty and staff within the UF community (i.e., Housing and Residence Education, Dean of Students Office, Disability Resource Center, RecSports, University Athletic Association, UF Police Department, etc.).

Maintains clinical records on findings and treatments following established charting guidelines.
Emergency/Urgency Duties
Provides regular back-up and after-hours psychiatric emergency/urgent duties with other Student Health Psychiatry (SHP).

Expected Salary:
$110k - $120k annually
Required Qualifications:
  • Licensed as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse in accordance with Chapter 464, Florida Statutes, with the appropriate specialization in psychiatry/mental health.
  • Certification in an area of specialization is required for credentialing through UFHealth. These are reviewed annually.
  • Must maintain Health Provider CPR certification

Preferred:
  • Two years of appropriate experience
  • Adept at dealing with the problems of a college age population, consultation/outreach, development theories of the adolescent and adult, and be able to understand the individual in the context of a diverse social/cultural milieu.
  • Should have personal attributes that enable them to facilitate effective interpersonal relationships and communicate with colleagues and patients as well as a wide range of students, faculty, staff and administrators.
  • Experienced in trauma, eating disorders, and alcohol/substance abuse with college student populations.
  • Demonstrated skill in working well under pressure to prioritize and manage a multitude of clinical situations.
  • Integrative knowledge of EPIC and Titanium medical record systems with ability to maintain and manage confidential information in accordance with HIPAA and FERPA.
  • Self-motivated, self-directed, highly organized, and detail-oriented.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Employment with the University of Florida is contingent upon the results of a criminal background check.
