Job description

Purpose We have the right position for you. Come and join our Sanitation Team Today. As a Senior Sanitation Worker, you will be responsible for the collection of residential refuse, yard waste, bulk items, and recyclable materials and/or the removal of litter from City streets, lanes and rights-of-way.

Deliver, pickup, repair, and replace refuse carts. Collects yard waste. Removes dead animals.

Assists truck operator in determining correct routes. Serves as spotter to assist truck operator in safely backing up and maneuvering in congested spaces. Operates hydraulic lift and press.

Maintains inventory of tools assigned to the truck. Assists driver with completing Daily Driver Log, Disabled/Elderly Listing. Assists driver with pre and post trip vehicle inspections.

Operates hydraulic lift and press. Maintains inventory of tools assigned to the truck. Collects recyclable materials.

Directs traffic as needed. Collects litter; changes litter baskets. Cleans truck at end of route.

Assembles, delivers, repairs, cleans, and collects recycling and refuse collection carts as assigned. Trains new Senior Sanitation and Sanitation Worker on safe operation of trucks and with assigned routes. Responsible for completing assignments for the residential cart program.

Performs other related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications One (1) year of experience in refuse collection; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Requires the ability to lift items up to forty (40) pounds.

This is a critical workforce position. Work Location: 1809 W US Hwy 80 Work Schedule: Varies Additional Requirements Background investigation, including supervised drug screen, post offer/pre-employment medical screen; and verification of education, certifications, and licenses required prior to employment. Additional Information Knowledge of department safety procedures.
