Refugees often cannot return home safely because of their race, religion, nationality, membership in a particular social group, or political opinion. International law, including the 1951 Refugee Convention, provides protection and certain rights to refugees. They may seek asylum in another country and are entitled to humanitarian assistance and protection until it is safe for them to return or they are resettled elsewhere.

To thrive as a Refugee Resettlement Case Manager, you need a background in social work, human services, or a related field, often with a relevant degree or certification. Familiarity with case management software, immigration documentation systems, and government or NGO protocols is typically required. Exceptional cultural sensitivity, problem-solving, and communication skills help build trust with clients and coordinate support services. These abilities are essential for effectively guiding refugees through complex resettlement processes and helping them achieve self-sufficiency.
