Job description

JOB TITLE: Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Engineer

Job Description:
It is the primary responsibility of the Engineer to perform preventive and ongoing maintenance of the hotel, casino, back of house, and retail areas within the property. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental policies, practices and procedures
Job Focus:
Focus is on, but not limited to the following:
  • Engineers must be proficient and versatile in one or more building trades: electrical, painting, carpentry, industrial plumbing, HVAC, kitchen appliances, swimming pools, and general mechanics
  • Responsible for servicing and maintaining large commercial refrigeration rack and standalone equipment to include parallel rack refrigeration systems, working with Semi hermetic compressors, large commercial ice machines, stand alone small hermetic refrigeration systems, cold rails, blast chillers, walk in freezers and coolers, all types of commercial cook line refrigeration equipment and large commercial air conditioning systems.
  • Responsible for servicing and maintaining various types of equipment related to refrigeration
  • Responsible for reporting all equipment and fixture errors to Management
  • Responds to various emergencies throughout the facility
  • Maintains supply inventories and maintenance logs for all assigned areas
  • Responsible for all other duties as assigned by area and Management
  • Will assist all other trades and crafts with routine and emergency work assignments
  • Completes additional duties/tasks as assigned by the Supervisor

Desired Qualifications:
  • A High School diploma or equivalent is required
  • At least five (5) to seven (7) years of experience in working in the commercial refrigeration service field.
  • Must have a minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years commercial or industrial Journeyman experience in all of the following areas: installation, troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of various types of refrigeration equipment including ice machines, and air conditioning and heating units
  • Ability to solder, braze, and weld, along with pipe fitting and electrical trouble shooting necessary
  • Must be able to read interrupt electrical and mechanical schematics
  • Must be able to use a Volt OHM multi meter to properly trouble shoot systems
  • Must be able to trouble shoot using manifold pressure gauges
  • Experience in Building Automation Systems (BAS) Delta preferred
  • Knowledge of the proper use and routine operator maintenance of hand tools and equipment, and the location and proper storage requirements of materials, tools, and equipment
  • Previous experience working commercial A/C, and refrigeration in a resort setting
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of business
  • A professional appearance and demeanor must be maintained at all times
  • Must be available to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and clearly in English, both written and verbal
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills are required
  • Ability to communicate, interact and work effectively and cooperatively with all people including those from diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds
  • A proven ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator
  • Operating knowledge of and experience with hand and power tools and powered equipment
  • Operating knowledge of and experience with typical office equipment such as: telephones, copier, fax machine, Email, etc
  • EPA Universal Card or equivalent
  • A valid NV Driver's License is required and must be obtained before entering this position
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
