A Refractory Technician specializes in installing, repairing, and maintaining heat-resistant materials used in furnaces, kilns, boilers, and other high-temperature equipment. They work with firebrick, ceramic fiber, castable refractories, and other materials to ensure thermal insulation and structural integrity. Their duties include inspecting refractory linings, removing worn-out materials, mixing and applying new refractory compounds, and ensuring proper curing. Refractory Technicians commonly work in industries such as steel, cement, glass, and petrochemicals, where extreme heat is present. This role requires knowledge of refractory materials, safety protocols, and sometimes welding or masonry skills.
