Job description

The Toplander is responsible for assisting in an above ground mining environment. Operate heavy equipment such as, Telehandler for lift, 730&740 Cat Haul Trucks, 960 Cat Loader and Cat Skid steer.

Education:
1. High School, GED, and/or higher education.


Work Experience:
1. Preferred but not required one (1) year of experience as a Surface Laborer or relevant experience.
2. Experience in Underground mining.
3. If required to operate a company vehicle during employment, must meet the requirements to be an eligible user of company vehicles. Must possess a current State Driver's License and acceptable driving record.
4. Proficient in the use of computers and associated software.
5. Ability to use hand tools, power tools and layout tools safe and efficiently.


Knowledge Required: 
1. Understanding of servicing fluids and basic mechanical knowledge of heavy equipment.
2. Ability to read and understand materials commonly used in the product service and maintenance function (service and parts manuals, technical bulletins, and other related articles).
3. Excellent interpersonal, communication and customer service skills, both verbal and written.
4. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
5. High level of attention to detail, neatness, and accuracy 
6. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively. 


Other Requirements:
1. Ability to pass background clearance check, drug screening and physical.
2. Must have a mechanics basic set of hand tools up to a two-inch minimum.
3. Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
4. Ability to prepare written reports and correspondence.
5. Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
6. Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision

Primary Duties and Responsibilities include:
1. Assist in surface duties. Loading machinery, positioning work, setting up jobs, adjusting and operating
2. Observes machine processing for proper functioning and production of parts or products.
3. Load and unload materials, parts, or products.
4. Deliver parts or stock to designated work areas.
5. Escort Delivery of materials to and from site. 
6. Track material in warehouse for restocking. 
7. Load packaging machinery and may clean surface of machines and work areas.
8. Operate Equipment on surface in a safe and productive manner. 
9. Housekeeping and organization of materials and tools.
10. Operation of forklifts, manlifts and pickup trucks.
11. General cleaning at jobsite. Keeping spaces maintained and in good working conditions.
12. Ability to take direction from supervision.
13. Recognize hazards and safety risks.
14. Familiar with equipment and tools required for the position. Task Training will be done on site. 
15. Ability to lift 50 lbs.
16. Work in a standing, seated, or other physical positions.
17. Mining/Construction experience preferred but not required.
18. Concrete experience. 
19. Responsible to keep work areas safe and free of hazards. Performs Field Level Risk Assessments.
20. Must be able to follow proper procedures to ensure safety and to control equipment damage. 
21. Must be able to comprehend written and verbal instructions as required to perform his duties in a safe and efficient manner.
22. Comply with daily, weekly, and monthly safety directives, policies, and procedures. 
23. Maintain confidentiality with respect to Redpath and client information. 
24. Complies with and ensure compliance with Redpath's Policies and Procedures as detailed in the appropriate manuals, handbooks, directives, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
25. Able to work more than 40 hours a week, overtime, day and nights, weekends, holidays, and shift rotations. 
26. Compliance with Redpath Core Competencies is an essential duty and responsibility.
