Job Description:

Summary:

As a lifeguard, your primary responsibility is for the safety of any person in the pool area and using the swimming pool. Responsibilities include supervising recreational swimmers through proper scanning and consistent rule enforcement, preventing accidents and injuries, and providing emergency intervention. Provide individual assistance to members and guests as needed.

Essential Functions:

  • Maintain current required training certifications during your tenure.

  • Educate, observe, and enforce all facility and pool rules in a friendly and helpfulmanner.

  • Report potential hazards and unsafe conditions immediately to the Aquatics Facility Manager.

  • Assist in maintaining pool cleanliness by participating in the cleaning duties assigned.

  • Arrive on time for your shift, 15 minutes prior to the beginning of the shift, and in uniform.

  • Complete weekly tasks that keep skills current during the fall, spring, and summer sessions.

  • Participate in the monthly mandatory staff in-service training.

  • Perform as a team player by finding substitutes for scheduled shifts and agreeing to do your share of rental and sub work.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

  • Part-time.

  • Expected hours 15 - 20 hours a week.

  • Expected to work some early morning, mid-day, and weekend.

Salary Range:

  • $18.40 per hour - Regular Lifeguard position.

  • $25.00 per hour - Special Event Lifeguard.

Required Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or its equivalent is required.

  • Must have current Red Cross Lifeguard/First aid, and CPR/AED certification.

  • Must demonstrate swimming skills and rescue methods.

  • Demonstrate fitness through 300M swim.

  • Demonstrate tact and judgment in decision-making.

  • Demonstrate ability to take direction from thehead guard(s).
