Job Description

Are you on the job market? 18 month contract must be in or near Chicago, IL


Under supervision, perform activities required to support a large, complex Unix/Linux based computing environment. Utilize customer service skills while acting as a technical resource to internal departments and system users. Use technical skills to proactively write scripts and documentation in place to comply with current standards and regulatory practices.

Primary Responsibilities:
Provide advanced system administration, operational support and problem resolution for a large complex Unix/Linux computing environment, based primarily on VMware.
Attend meetings as a team representative.
Monitor server performance and capacity.
Use and comply with change management process.
Assist in developing and write technical documentation for IT policies and procedures for compliance and regulation
Research and gather technical information for audit and compliance related matters
Perform computing environment build-outs, site setup, user training, hardware/software installation, maintenance and support and documentation of operating procedures and processes.
Perform Linux administration including changes, deletes, disk space management, application installation, and backups
Troubleshoot hardware and software problems, takes appropriate corrective action and/or interact with IT staff or vendors in performing complex testing, support, server recovery, and troubleshooting functions.
Support off hours and weekend work as needed
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline
