Job description

Position Summary
The Salvation Army Northern Division Headquarters (DHQ) in Roseville, Minnesota, is committed to "Doing the Most Good" by supporting worship, housing, and service centers and addressing community needs across Minnesota and North Dakota. The Red Kettle Campaign is the organization's largest annual fundraising effort, raising nearly $7 million each year through the dedication of thousands of volunteers who serve as bell ringers throughout the holiday season.
The Red Kettle Volunteer Services Coordinator is a seasonal position that typically works from approximately October through December in support of the annual Red Kettle Campaign. This position provides administrative and customer service support to the Volunteer Relations team by coordinating volunteer outreach and scheduling, maintaining volunteer records, responding to volunteer inquiries, and supporting day-to-day campaign operations. Using the Golden volunteer management database and other technology platforms, the position helps recruit, schedule, and support volunteers while ensuring accurate campaign data and effective communication throughout the campaign season.
40 hours per week, temporary position from October 5th to December 24th
Wage range: $20.14 to $24 per hour

Essential Functions (Approximate time spent)
  • Volunteer Registration & Scheduling (55%): Coordinate volunteer registration and scheduling using the Golden volunteer management database. Answer the Red Kettle hotline, assist volunteers with registration and scheduling, make outbound recruitment and reminder calls, maintain volunteer records, and provide community service documentation as requested.
  • Volunteer Support & Customer Service (25%): Serve as a primary point of contact for volunteers by responding to phone calls, emails, and other inquiries. Monitor the Ring Bells shared mailbox, resolve scheduling and registration questions, document volunteer concerns, and communicate pertinent information to Volunteer Relations staff, officers, and local kettle coordinators.
  • Campaign Operations & Administrative Support (20%): Support day-to-day Red Kettle Campaign operations by maintaining campaign files and communications, monitoring the Microsoft Teams channel, coordinating campaign supplies and materials, performing data entry, and assisting with campaign logistics as needed.

Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous customer service, administrative, or office experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn new software.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
  • Must successfully complete required background checks.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).

Working Conditions

  • May occasionally work additional hours and travel locally during the Red Kettle Campaign.
  • May occasionally lift and carry campaign materials weighing up to 20 pounds.

Driving/Travel Requirements
  • Occasional local travel may be required to support Red Kettle Campaign operations, including visits to Corps locations, kettle sites, secure cash processing facilities, and other campaign-related locations.
