Job description

The Kativik Regional Government (KRG), a supra municipal body with jurisdiction over the territory located north of the 55th parallel, is now looking for a self-motivated and dynamic individual interested in joining the KRG to work in the capacity of:

METAL RECYCLING OPERATOR

(Seasonal / Full-Time)

Under the supervision of the Metal Recycling Foreman of the Renewable Resources, Environment, Lands and Parks Department, the Metal Recycling Operator will have responsibility for, without being limited to, the following duties:

  • Operation of a metal press for conducting the recycling of end-of-life vehicles and bulky metal accumulated in the Northern landfill and the communities;
  • Operates other heavy and light equipment in a safe and effective manner;
  • Performs minor maintenance and repairs to equipment;
  • Prepares scrap metal in accordance with the requirements of transport standards and in compliance with environmental legislation;
  • Prepares and submits reports on the progress of operations;
  • Collaborates with other KRG team members, with Maritim company employees and with the Northern Villages employees to ensure smooth operations;
  • Performs any other related duties required by the foreman.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Professional Diploma in heavy machinery operation (DEP);
  • Experience in metal press operation;
  • Valid driver’s licenses Class 5 and Class 1;
  • Experience in heavy equipment maintenance is considered an asset;
  • General health and safety on construction sites with WHMIS 2015 (ASP card)
  • Relevant experience with on-site construction work;
  • Basic computer skills in a Microsoft environment;
  • Written and oral working knowledge of at least two (2) of the following languages: Inuktitut, English and/or French;
  • Be reliable, autonomous, and resourceful, and possess a sense of initiative;
  • Able to travel within Nunavik.

Overtime hours may be required at times.

Salary: Min: $43,348/year, Max: $71800/year
