Rear-Load Garbage & Recycling Collector

Position Summary

We are seeking dependable and hardworking Garbage & Recycling Collectors to work on a rear-load collection truck. This is a physically demanding position that requires employees to work outdoors and remain committed to safety and productivity in all weather conditions.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Collect residential and/or commercial garbage and recyclable materials from designated locations.
  • Ride on and work from the rear of a collection truck while following all safety procedures.
  • Lift, carry, and empty garbage and recycling containers into the truck.
  • Assist the driver with positioning the truck and safely navigating collection routes.
  • Keep the work area around the truck clean and free of debris.
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with the driver and other crew members.
  • Report damaged containers, unsafe conditions, or other issues to the driver or supervisor.
  • Work efficiently while maintaining a strong focus on safety.
  • Perform outdoor work regardless of weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, snow, and other conditions.

Required Safety Equipment

Employees must provide and wear the following:

  • Steel-toe safety boots
  • High-visibility safety vest
  • Work gloves

Qualifications

  • Previous waste collection, recycling, sanitation, or general labor experience is a plus but not required.
  • Must be physically capable of lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling materials throughout the workday.
  • Must be comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Must be dependable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team.
  • Must follow all safety instructions and wear required PPE at all times.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment.
