ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Join a fast-moving team in the tree care industry as a part-time Administrative Assistant who splits their time between making outbound sales calls and learning to become a recruiter. This is a hybrid role that requires strong writing/editing, accurate typing, personable phone outreach, and reliable transportation for local errands around Berkeley.
In all cases, our S&RA will be highly computer savvy, have experience working or volunteering in a role that required them be in contact with many people daily (retails, customer service, grocery store clerk, bartender, etc.)
Reporting to our Chief People & Strategy Officer, you will spend the first two hours of our day supporting our Client Services Manager by contacting clients to confirm theyโ€™ve received their written estimates. Later, youโ€™ll follow up with anyone who has not yet accepted a project bid and will do post-project email survey to ensure our clients consistently appreciate our services and would recommend us to others. ย 
During the second portion of your day, youโ€™ll work inside our ATS (Applicant Tracking System) to find great matches to our open positions. Youโ€™ll send out surveys, learn to read survey results, schedule then hold phone interviews, and pass the best candidates forward for review. ย 
ABOUT THE COMPANY
Since 1980, The Professional Tree Care Company has been trusted for tree services throughout Northern California. Based in Berkeley, CA, we service commercial, residential, and public works projects from Mendocino to Monterey, and from San Francisco to Sacramento.ย 
What makes us unique? We recycle 100% of material removed from job sites at our own Green Waste Recycle Yard (greenwasterecycleyard dot com), create organic mulch and custom mill logs to make dimensional lumber. We also have the staff, equipment, resources, and experience to perform tree services at any scale.ย 
Compensation and Benefits
  • Hourly rate of $24.00 per hour with overtime at 1.5 base rate/$36.00 per hour (which must be approved in advance.)
  • NOTE: This role is posted as part-time, 20 hours per week. In Q3, and if the budget allows, weekly hours may be increased to 30 or 40 hours, depending on the needs of these two departments
  • IF THE BUDGET IS INCREASED TO JOB CAN GO FULL-TIME: Afterย 90 days of full-time employment, employees are eligible to purchase benefits: medical, dental, optical with PTC contributing 50%. FTEs (full-time employees) receive 5 paid holidays, 5 paid sick days, PTO (paid time off), etc. and may purchase insurance for their legal dependents.

Hours & Culture
  • Part-time/20 hours per week. 4 days x five (5) hours per day: Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. (lunch from noon to 12:30 p.m.)

Key responsibilities
  • Outbound sales calling, leads/estimates follow-up, contact existing customers regarding new services, follow up with clients after project completion to understand their experience, document outcomes in CRM
  • Meet weekly performance targets for calls and candidate pipeline activities
  • Write and edit clear, concise email templates, job ads, call scripts, interview questions, and candidate communications.ย 
  • Learn to review candidates, send surveys, learn to interpret survey results, screen candidates, coordinate on-site interviews, and support hiring/onboarding workflow.
  • Run local errands, deliver/pick up materials, occasionally take job-site photos
  • Candidates must provide their own transportation and will be reimbursed for errands

Required qualifications
  • Associate or bachelorโ€™s degree plus excellent written communication and editing skills
  • Fast and efficient typing
  • Outgoing, extraverted personality; comfortable making high-volume outbound phone calls and handling rejection professionallyย 
  • Able to spend roughly 5 hours/day on outbound calls
  • Reliable personal transportation and willingness to run errands within the Berkeley area
  • Residence within a 40-minute commute of Berkeley, CAย 
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask across sales and recruiting priorities
Preferred
  • Bilingual English/Spanish (Commonly required for all jobs in the trades: tree care, construction, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, landscape, etc.
  • Experienceย withย CRMย (Customer Relationship Management software like Salesforce) orย ATS (Applicant Tracking System like Breezy-HR or Workable) platforms
  • Previousย experience making outbound calls
