Job description

Want to see the game the way coaches see it? The Athens Rock Lobsters are looking for a Video & Hockey Analytics Intern to work alongside our coaching staff and gain hands-on experience with the video and analytical side of professional hockey.
You'll help capture practices and games, break down and tag key moments, organize video for coaching review and assist in developing scouting packages for upcoming opponents. From power plays and penalty kills to breakouts, faceoffs and scoring opportunities, you'll help turn game footage into information the coaching staff can use. For someone who loves hockey, understands the strategy behind the game and wants exposure to coaching, scouting and player development, this is an opportunity to get behind the scenes and contribute to hockey operations.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Video & Hockey Analytics Intern supports the Athens Rock Lobsters coaching staff with the collection, organization and analysis of video and statistical information used for game preparation, player development and opponent scouting. This position assists with recording practices and games, tagging and organizing video, preparing scouting and coaching clips and maintaining the team's video and statistical resources. The role works closely with hockey operations personnel and requires discretion when handling confidential team, player and competitive information.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Game Day Video Operations: Filming home games from the press box and capturing live broadcast feeds for immediate period-by-period coaching analysis.
  • Video Tagging & Breakdown: Tag key game events (power plays, penalty kills, faceoffs, breakouts, scoring chances) using professional video editing/sports tagging software.
  • Practice Coverage: Record weekday morning practices and team drills to assist coaches in reviewing player execution.
  • Opponent Scouting Packages: Assist in compiling clip packages and scouting reels of upcoming opponents for team video sessions.
  • Database Management: Organize, archive, and manage the team's digital video library and player statistical tracking spreadsheets.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
  • High level of familiarity with ice hockey tactics, formations, systems, and advanced statistical metrics.
  • Experience with video editing software (e.g., Premiere Pro, iMovie, Hudl, Steva, or Synergy) preferred.
  • Strong technical literacy and familiarity with video camera operations/capturing hardware.
  • Ability to maintain absolute confidentiality regarding coaching strategy, roster moves, and team discussions.
  • Availability during weekday morning/afternoon practice sessions as well as home game nights.
