Job description

Company Overview

Imagine a piloted air taxi that takes off vertically, then quietly carries you and your fellow passengers over the congested city streets below, enabling you to spend more time with the people and places that matter most. At Joby, we've been working to make that dream a reality since 2009 and we're now in the final stages of certifying our aircraft with the FAA. With plans to launch our aircraft in the US and Dubai, we're now scaling manufacturing and preparing for the launch of our commercial service.

Overview

Joby Aviation is seeking an experienced, motivated and detail-oriented Senior Technical Recruiter to join our team and play a key role in scaling our workforce during a pivotal stage of innovation and growth.  This temporary role will be responsible for the full-cycle recruitment process, including sourcing, screening, interviewing, and hiring qualified candidates for technical manufacturing positions.

The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced setting, collaborating closely with hiring managers to identify staffing needs, attract top talent, and ensure a smooth, data-driven recruitment process. This role requires experience and an understanding of technical positions, strong interpersonal skills, and a passion for finding top talent.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with department heads and hiring managers to assess workforce needs, forecast hiring demands and build targeted talent pipelines
  • Build and maintain a scalable recruiting strategy. Manage full-cycle recruiting efforts and offer negotiations
  • Create and post compelling, accurate technical job descriptions aligned with team needs
  • Source and screen candidates for a variety of roles across engineering and manufacturing functions
  • Conduct structured interviews and coordinate technical assessments
  • Follow up with passive candidates and nurture long-term pipelines for hard-to-fill roles
  • Provide regular updates on recruitment metrics such as time-to-fill, pipeline health, and hiring trends
Required
  • BA/BS degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or similar field OR a high school diploma/GED and 10 years of relevant work experience or some combination thereof
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience recruiting engineers or niche, skilled roles across Manufacturing and Quality
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing business needs and facility expansions in the manufacturing process
  • Ability to build and maintain scalable talent pipelines for both high-volume entry-level roles and specialized manufacturing positions
  • Proven ability to understand and communicate complex technical job requirements
  • Ability to partner with managers and operations leadership to forecast future labor needs based on production targets, facility expansions, and new product lines
  • Experience with applicant tracking systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly organized and adaptable in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
  • Strong sense of urgency and a proactive approach to problem-solving
  • Ability to be in person in Santa Cruz, or San Carlos, CA 2-3 days per week
Desired
  • Experience with iCIMS ATS system
  • Background in aerospace, advanced manufacturing, high-tech or start-up industries
  • Ability to analyze AI-generated insights, track time-to-fill and quality-of-hire metrics, and measure tool performance.
  • Experience leading recruitment strategies to rapidly scale production teams, successfully handling rotational spikes and major shifts in manufacturing volume.
Additional Information

This is a temporary role, anticipated to last 6-12 months. The target base pay for this position is $49-$65/hr. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
