Recreation Therapist

Location: Lancaster, CA Pay: $68 to $70 per hour Contract Length: 26 weeks Schedule: Full-time, 5x8-hour shifts or 4x10-hour shifts

We are seeking a Recreation Therapist for a 26-week correctional healthcare contract in Lancaster, California. This position provides therapeutic recreation services in a secure clinical setting and works closely with an interdisciplinary treatment team.

Responsibilities Develop and implement individualized recreation therapy programs Evaluate patientsโ€™ therapeutic recreation needs Support social interaction, communication skills, physical activity, and healthy coping strategies Encourage the appropriate and beneficial use of leisure time Help prepare patients for transitions to other levels of care or less restrictive settings Participate in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings Coordinate services with clinicians, counselors, nursing staff, and custody personnel Document assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and services provided Follow all facility, safety, security, and confidentiality requirements Requirements Degree from an accredited or recognized college with a major in therapeutic recreation, or recreation with an emphasis in therapeutic recreation Education must include supervised fieldwork approved by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification or the California Board of Recreation and Park Certification Minimum of 12 continuous months of relevant experience within the last three years Internship experience does not count toward the required experience Required license, certification, or credentialing for the role Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to work effectively in a secure correctional environment Ability to complete all required background and facility clearances Assignment Details $68 to $70 per hour 26-week correctional contract Full-time schedule 5x8-hour or 4x10-hour schedule options Potential for extension based on performance and facility need
