Job description

Position Summary:
The Recreation Specialist provides therapeutic recreation activity to all patients of the program by organizing outdoor recreation activities and event coordination. This position requires Saturday/Sunday availability.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Develop, organize, and engage patients in therapeutic and treatment program relevant recreational activities.
  • Coordinate, schedule, and facilitate recreational activities daily.
  • Responsible for interacting with and supporting clinical staff by sharing relevant and important patient information.
  • Responsible for supporting facility AMA activities and/or crisis interventions.
  • Research and implement treatment relevant recreational therapies and interventions.
  • Ensures that proper curriculums are developed and maintained to support all recreational activities for the organization.
  • Ensures that proper supplies and equipment are on inventory to support the provision of therapy services.
  • Ensures that all interactions, interventions, and communications are properly and promptly documented in the medical record or other appropriate documentation tool as required.

Licensures and/or Certifications
Certified Addiction Counselor CAC preferred.
CPR certification required.
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Bachelor's degree in recreational therapy, recreation rehabilitation or related field preferred.
Minimum of one (1) year in a Behavioral Healthcare or recovery setting preferred. Knowledge of the principles and practices of recreational and therapeutic activity programs.
